Does it really matter to you?

Meh, we're all on HB to talk bollocks. Just wondering if the consensus is more or less than 74 points. I know it was scoffed at by many of us here. I honestly thought they had no idea about how good the Nucks would be. I'm still betting north of 74 though.

College signings will dominate much of the player movement over the next few weeks, but it won’t just be free agents. At least two prominent draft picks are expected to join the jamboree. Vancouver’s Brock Boeser (23rd overall, 2015) is coming out, with the only real debate being whether or not he plays NHL games this season. It’s rare a player chooses an AHL tryout over burning a year of their big-league deal, but Zach Werenski did it last season. Lake Erie was a power and won the Calder Cup. AHL Utica is hitting above its weight class this season, battling St. John’s and Toronto for two playoff spots in the North Division. Extended time there is no guarantee. If Boeser wants to play at the highest level, is Vancouver going to say no?

Sign some stop-gap UFAS for next season. The Sedin's provide zero in the way of entertainment value, but I am not at the games live.

Never been into tanking a season but it is ok now as long as effort is still there.

You clearly didn't watch the game last night.

I am not concerned with Boeser burning a year, I think the team will not provide him enough support for him to get paid more than a bridge deal by the time his ELC expires in that case. I would however like to see him go to the AHL and take the intermediate step for the final month or two before joining the club full time next season and take the risk of a bigger payday on 3 full seasons worth

I think this is great news. Can't get overhyped when a college kid has 1 really good year. Lets see how he does next year and let him prove it.
- Codes1087

He was phenomenal in the second half of last season. But sure, I didn't care if he signed either way. Hopefully he can add 10 pounds and not lose any speed.

If Boeser leaves, he is going to want to burn a level of his contract. I think the major reason why he wanted to stay is to get in 1 more year of schooling and development and UND. If he signs now, he gets that year of schooling and development and still makes a pretty good pay day and burns 1 year. At this point, with 13 games remaining, I would prefer not to burn 1 year, as he COULD demand some pretty big cash depending on how well he does (he could pull a Horvat). But, if management burns a level, I completely understand why.

No one here cares whether they beat 74 points. It's irrelevant.

He had a great 2nd half the year prior you are right. I just don't want to rush him. I think him staying another year isn't the worth thing. We retaining his rights until 2019 right? Lots of time to get him signed.

Exactly, we can sign him in 2018 or worst case in 2019 before Aug 15th I believe.

IF this kids earns a payday, I doubt anyone will care about his contract. Burn up the ELC and get this kid up (either AHL or NHL) in my opinion. Worry about the the next contract when it comes along.

If he played for the Comets he would have used 2 years already of his ECL so I don't care

The one way it might burn the nucks is if the league decides on expansion again in a couple years and that one year burnt means we then have to protect him going in to the draft. Chances are we wont have enough guys worth protecting in that time frame but you never know

From a cap perspective, I would have wanted to pay Bo after 2 seasons, and I would want the same for Boeser. But from a "whats the point?" perspective, I dont see the need to showcase Boeser to the NHL this year. He has been injured, the games mean nothing, he will probably get 10 mins/game, and there are more players in need of audition time/experience than BB in my opinion. I am confident he will be on the team next season, but there are others that are still question marks that should be given the opportunity

I am not talking about that.

Im hoping for this also but the kid is going to want to get paid. He has leverage due to that stupid college free agent rule. If you piss him off he can just hold out, doubt it happens but when agents get involved ya never know.

He has already had two years of development , what is wrong with him trying to replace Megna ?

We have to stop over thinking the obvious

If his season ends March 25/26 weekend, he could get 8 NHL games in, or 10 AHL games plus playoffs.

I guess it depends on how much pro experience you want him to get before summer
