Quote from Dan Bylsma about a month ago "IF Jack isnt turning the puck over 4-5 times a game I am going to bench him. Jack carries the puck, he is going to give it up, we need him to play that way"
One month later. Jack Turns puck over and gets benched routinely.

kane, ror, okposo, reinhart, ennis, girgens, foligno, eichel, gionta
with those 9 players up front, it's inexcusable to be under .500
esp with risto, mccabe
and gorges and franson are fine if plying 16 minutes a night
the coach sucks
the gm's moves to address the D has SUCKED
fire them both - homiedclown
I'm talking about the end result. Getting outshot 60 something to 20 something every night is probably the exact result that would occur if you put an AHL team in the NHL. Losing 9 of 11 contests as well.
But yes Dan and GMTM have get the BOOT. Absolutely have to. If they don't the damage done will be extended far past it's necessary time.

This X10, the team is not full of crap featuring Eichel. ROR, Kane, Okposo, Reinhart, Risto, McCabe, even guys like foligno and franson are not AHL players, not even close. I totally get the frustration with this team, but don't discount the horrible job the coach and to a lesser extent the GM have done with what they had. I can live with giving TM a slight pass, its his first kick at the can as being a GM and he at least tried to make deals, but those deals have not panned out for the most part.
This teams failures are at the feet of mr disco IMO. Does he have a Stanley cup roster? No. Does he have a middling roster, that, at very least should be in the hunt for the playoffs, maybe a couple points out but right there? Yes. No coach could turn our roster into a dynasty but I'd think even grebe could do a better job behind the bench then what dan is doing.
At least grebe knows Eichel is good...... |

Exactly. Jack is the top puck carrying forward in the NHL right now. On a crap team no less. Turnovers will happen. What's Zemgus doing out there? Not much. |

People don't seem to get it when I say, " Pegula should build another building and we might be good". That's all he seems to be good at is donating money and building because he can't run either one of his sports franchises. Both the Sabres and the Bills still suck and the Sabres are worse then last year. Hire a football and a hockey guy to run things. - SABRES 89
So was Lafontaine ran out or did he just not want to be that guy here? |

Hey Boys,
Fitzy, Ion, 365, That Guy & Slave.....
Great take on Pegula, one common denominator is Russ Brandon - enough already with this Yes Man!
We need a true hockey guy (ex Neil Smith) on this staff!
I have a really good feeling on McDermott (he is the voice of the Bills now) you don't see Whaley at all anymore.
Thought:
Phil Housley - Coach - Irish 14
Like your thoughts Irish...just not Bylsma..I've been saying that since Dec. 2015! |

That's a great question. He ran out of the Islanders prior when he got the job, or was run out, you pick. But then, oddly the same thing happened at another franchise.
Of course they're dysfunctional, that's why they were looking to hire a hockey OPS guy.
Lafontaine is a special case, it's kind of crazy that he walked away from that job twice. |

Ice cold.
I would still like to see him in another system/HC to make my final judgement on him. |

I said in late December virtually the same thing...the teams too much talent for the production earned thus far. I was ridiculed by some on here who now are on the Fire Bylsma train.
I still think that is they have holes, but man they should have better results than they do.
Last year season, Dec I called into question Bylsmas system...it was flat and predicated on dump and chase...like a fourth line plays, and he wants skilled o,ayers to go in a corner and bang around...dumb, dumb, dumb.
I'm a believer in GMTM, however if he doesn't fire Bylsma at the end of this season, the he should be fired, period. |

Rumor had it back then that LaFontaine wanted to try to save that season. Can you imagine if he had his way? We wouldn't have traded the core and (gulp) might not have Jack. |

Free agent LB Zach Brown is visiting the Raiders on Wednesday.
It's Brown's first visit of free agency. The former Titans second-rounder never panned out in Tennessee, but he had a big year in the Bills' 3-4 scheme in 2016, grading out as Pro Football Focus' No. 12 inside linebacker out of 59 qualifiers, receiving plus marks for both his run defense and coverage. The Raiders' 2016 starting inside 'backers, Perry Riley and Malcolm Smith, are both free agents, with Smith already signing with the 49ers. Brown is still just 27. |

His season reminded me of Kiko Alonso's rookie season. He looked great for a handful of games and then got run over. Hard to tell how much was him and how much was the dreadful scheme. |

We run a 4-3 now and if he doesn't fit into that, get rid of him. Enough with paying big money for players that don't fit with the D we are going to run. |

Coach Lindy Ruff called out his best players after Tuesday's 7-1 loss to Edmonton.
"That may be the worst game I've coached as a Dallas Star," said Ruff. "We need a lot more out of the leaders of our team. They're the guys who can make the difference at this time. They're the guys that the responsibility lies on." He added that the team "went dead" after the Oilers took a 3-0 lead. The Stars will look to respond Thursday versus Vancouver. |

If Darcy takes the 4 1st rounder's for Vanek, we don't have Jack.
How far back are we going to go to make it look like the incompetence of this organization is a good thing?

Punch should have traded the 1st over all pick in 1970! He could have cleaned up...probably have a couple of cups by now. |

the defense is a fatal flaw right now. its being made worse by the coach. i dont believe that murray hired bylsma, should i believe he can fire him? murray tried fixing the d on the cheap, it has not worked. im expecting the d to be fixed and im expecting that most will not be happy with the cost. |

I had a link to the article the other day, that Murray hired Bylsma. Some awesome quotes included "We are better here today because of him...."(paraphrase)
Also Dan talking about building a wining culture in Pittsburgh. Just laughable. |

This x10
a) no coach fixes this D, thats on the future GM
b) if you were an established NHL coach how much money would it take for you to want to coach this team? sure its got jack...its also got jack on its blue line.

Well, it seems you are set in your beliefs, so based on that I would say you won't believe so, no.
It is pure speculation on Terry having directed GMTM to hire Bylsma though. It is possible, but nothing put out there about it definitely being Terry's decision, not that I'm aware of anyway.
You may be right however.
What are you expecting the cost to fix the D to be? |
