If he's not good enough to be called up then he is not good enough to get called up. Simple.
Like you said, you don't get the hate and I don't get the love. As soon as Shinkurak
was traded Subban became the new poster boy for feelings. - Marwood
the majority of the feelings come from you. this "he sucks," from you every time his name is brought up sure seems saltier than the rim of a margarita glass. |

infatuation?
no one is claiming (at least not that i've read) that he's a sure fire nhl'er. at best, i've read him being a pp specialist. with the points he has put up, that doesn't seem to be a totally absurd view.
he's a prospect that is in his 2nd year of pro hockey. to say that he needs a chance to develop is not infatuation.
i feel the same way about all/most prospects. - RealityChecker
Do you think Subban's career is best served by being in Vancouver right now or playing in Utica fighting for the playoffs? |

Are you being serious? - CanuckDon
I honestly think subban could match 43 points -41 in a 133 games. No problem. |

Sure, throw him to the wolves for a few games. But I thought you wanted to load up Utica? - CanuckDon
Ideally yes, but management is not going to do that so we might as well see what we got on the other side of the coin.
Fact is, it's lose-lose, might as well score some entertainment points. |

I get what you are saying on Subban. You know Marwood doesn't talk hockey he lurks and mocks.
I don't know if they are sheltering Jorden from NHL time, keep value potential hypothetical, like they did somewhat with Shink. JB could be looking for deal this offseason or as throw in sweetener to a bigger one. Would be waste to use for Vegas fodder to protect exposed players. But well it's all in play as for options. - Nuck4U

but i'm not saying he's a bust.
the kid is young. d takes longer to develop.
this team sucks. having an offensively oriented dman developing is not a bad thing.
labeling him a bust is more a case of the reverse-feels. |

Is that Hutton's line? I am not a big Hutton fan but at least he is 6'3. Sure, Subban probably has similar skill but he is a smurf. This is a real concern. |

Id like to see him on the team for the last 5 games of the season and being the teams number 1 PK guy and get zero shot on the PP.

Stecher? Im not sure he deserves it, but it would have been nice. 12 more NHL games and he is no longer waiver exempt
I wasnt totally following the comments but if youre referring to Hutton he isnt exempt. He played 75 games last year, threshold for his ELC signing age was 70 games - WhiteLie
No, I was talking Hutton. Stecher has played well, just not lately. I think he's a bit burned out. Same with Tree. The NHL is a grind. |

I do that to counter the 'infatuation' I see for Subban. Try not to take me too seriously. |

I am not saying he is a bust either. He is a 4th round pick. He is a fine 4th round pick but still a longshot. Nothing wrong with him marinating in the AHL for a few more years. |

One more point in five fewer games playing for a superior team in an inferior league.
Let's call it progress and hope he turns out better than Kassian. - Pres.cup
Talk to Oiler fans. They love Kassian. Think he has 2L potential to replace Lucic.
You are calling Comets a superior team |

to me, they are both powerplay specialists. But only one of them has a shot, and it ain't Ben Hutton |

We have lots of shut down and two way types.. we really need to add a couple real offensive types in the next couple drafts and hopefully we get one to stick eventually. |

but where is this infatuation? can you point to any posts or posters who are claiming him to be a sure fire nhl'er?
you consistently claim that there is all this love for him but it's usually from people who don't agree with your over the top posts about the kid.

exactly. He played 47 games last year between NCAA and Utica. He is currently at 64 including preaseason so he will likely play 75 games. He needs a break. |

That's not bad considering Edlers -39 one season and Bo Horvat's career -40. |

all this excitement about potentially signing kids who were never drafted but labeling bust to the drafted players who are developing internally. just another day in the canucks thread. |

The infatuation is everytime a defenseman is injured there is a chorus calling for Subban to be called up. I guess you must overlook this or are not here when it happens.
I have never claimed that people say he is "a sur fire NHL'er". Never. |

Agreed. All 3 are improvements on what we had, but it would have been a nice luxury to have them all be in the AHL for a bit to help them improve the details in their games |

Man...I really think Subban would get destroyed in the NHL. Physically and defensively. That being said, I want it to happed so we can all put this argument to bed. He was absolutely overwhelmed in the young stars tourney against guys his own age. I have only seen a few Utica games this year so I just go off Green's commentary. |

just don't get the "he's a bust" or "let's trade him" talk. it honestly baffles me. |
