I would prefer Markstrom Bachman over Miller Markstrom next year but yes I was talking about the next week or so.
Nothing against Miller, he has really shown up this year but I think they need to move on to a vet backup ala Halak/Johnson etc and get Markstrom more starts next year. - belcherbd
They will probably lose Miller to Vegas or Cali teams. But there will be plenty of goalies out there to real in to back up Marky. Most if not all available are an upgrade over Bachman. He's good for a blue moon play your lights out game. But not a 20/30 game load. What Marky would need as back up over a season |

Bachman has no business being on an NHL team full time. Ludicrous. They should have a vet with Markstrom. - CanuckDon
I agree, but would still prefer that over resigning Miller. If they start the season with Markstrom/bachman I guarantee they pick up one of the many vet backup floating around the league by November.
If they bring Miller back we will likely go through another season of wondering what Markstrom is. |

Isn't that we all said before this season started?
If Miller is here, he will be getting 70% of the starts unless injured. - belcherbd
I don't disagree. I am fine with Miller or without him. A cheaper veteran 1A/1B is a good option. Bachman is not an option. The last thing we need is a youthful roster with an AHL plug in the net. |

Why would Vegas pick up an UFA in the draft? They would be crazy to select Miller and then potentially not resign him over grabbing a sbisa/dorsett/granlund etc. |

He will want the same $, let him sign in California - VanHockeyGuy
I doubt that he wants to face 40 - 50 shots a game in Vancouver. |

I think he meant that Vegas will take one of Dorsett/Sbisa/Gaunce through E-draft, and then Miller will sign with Vegas/Cali teams as a UFA as Miller won't want to come back and would probably rather play closer to home. (vegas/cali teams) |

Sign whoever wants to face 50+ shots a game. |

George McPhee could be asking.that Miller not be played. Not sure but Vegas is allowed to make verbal promises that he may want to pick Miller. Who knows what kind of deals are being made in the background. |

One of the priorities IMO needs to be to get Markstom starts and lots of them. I would prefer having an AHL plug as a backup over having Miller taking those starts from Markstrom.
Vet goalies are dirt cheap and always available. |

People going to freak out when Green starts Bachman over Demko in the playoffs? |

4 goals that's insane. Must be a high scoring league - NorthNuck
Very insane and not really a high scoring league. They won 4-2. |

They can have.discussions with free-agents before expansion draft.
Several months ago it was reported that McPhee would be looking for a longtime veteran, a middle aged guy and a younger goalie. Malcolm Subban was used as the example for a younger goalie. |

I'd like to see JB go after Bishop/Halak on a real good deal if (and its looking like he will) Miller enters free agency. With Demko/Markstrom I'd rather get a vet with some potential upside and not pay too much, in case Markstrom really tanks next season |

They can take Miller if he signs with them. They get that period prior to expansion draft. But they can still sign him after in July if they choose a Sbisa or I think you meant Guance. Granlund is under protection list for sure now with Hansen gone.
I also mentioned Cali teams. I just see Miller has better options. Otherwise Nucks will have to give Miller the #1 plus multi year big money contract for him to say yes.
If that happens there will be a lot of wailing. Plus Marky will have to be traded. Florida or Canes perhaps?
Edit. Just saw others posted similar responses. |

Awesome. I saw on twitter he's the highest goal scoring prospect aged player in the history of that league |

...unless JB has decided he doesn't trust Markstrom. Then he will resign Miller, trade Markstrom and look for a cheap backup. There is no way we roll with Marky and Bachman |

If they really want Markstrom to be an actual NHL starter, he needs to be starting the majority of the remaining games once he's healthy. i personally don't ever see this guy being a consistent Starter in the NHL |

Why? His stats speak for themselves. He's not coming back unless it's for half of what he's getting. - VanHockeyGuy
I just dont think it would look good on the guy who kept you in the playoff chase for most of the season, covered up for a poor team, and then sit him for the last 13 games. If he turns in 3-4 more 40+ save performances, that bodes well on teams viewing him as a capable #1 for the foreseeable future
Its like what LA did to Budaj. Everyone knows its a business but players wont forget how he was responsible for keeping their season alive and then tossed aside |

This kid excites me the most in the system I think. He plays centre too. - Crazybagoham
He hasn't played Centre in the last 2 years. Not since joining the higher level leagues. I think it's expected he'll be purely a LW |

I prefer it, if only to remove a piece from the goalie logjam. A Garteig/Demko tandem in Utica next year is how I hope it plays out next year |

Okay good, I was trying to find more about him, he's listed as a centre but that's fairly common. He'll have an easier time in the league putting up points on wing. I want to actually see him in camp, can't say i watch too many SHL games |
