If they really want Markstrom to be an actual NHL starter, he needs to be starting the majority of the remaining games once he's healthy. i personally don't ever see this guy being a consistent Starter in the NHL - Crazybagoham
Neither do I but it would be nice to see him get the chance. |

Okay good, I was trying to find more about him, he's listed as a centre but that's fairly common. He'll have an easier time in the league putting up points on wing. I want to actually see him in camp, can't say i watch too many SHL games - Crazybagoham
Yeah we're pretty much stuck with short videos of him on twitter till he comes over to NA. Hope he can really light it up in the AHL next year |

I prefer it, if only to remove a piece from the goalie logjam. A Garteig/Demko tandem in Utica next year is how I hope it plays out next year - WhiteLie
That's part of the issue, bachman is signed next year and Gartieg has done really well.

He has to be healthy to get a chance. Miller has been beating him all season, Markstroms had about 10 chances to go on a run. I would much rather see a Miller/Demko duo next season, Markstrom is stinking of Eddie lack (a guy too good to be a backup, but not good enough to play 60 games) |

I like Marky but I think he has been given the chance. Over the last 2 years there have been numerous times where he'd have one or two really good games and we'd think "this time he's going to take the starter job away from Miller." Then his performance would dip, Miller would play steadier and we're right back to where we started. It's getting close to the point where if he can't show consistency its gotta be accepted that he's not going to be a #1 guy. |

Dahlen looks great but it is important to remember that he is playing in 2nd tier in sweden. His goal totals are obviously very impressive but the way he plays has me excited, he goes to the net and also scores off the rush.
Kinda reminds me of the way Stastny played when he was breaking into the league. |

Do you really want two kids sharing the net in the AHL? Demko would benefit from playing with a vet. Do you really want our youthful roster playing in front of a garbage goalie tandem? I really think these are horrible ideas. Perhaps I should be more subtle in my criticism of your posts? |

Very insane and not really a high scoring league. They won 4-2. - belcherbd

I don't buy that personally, Miller has been given the assignment even when he has been faltering. That's fine because it matches the teams goals of trying to win above developing.
I just hope that we see the mentality shift. |

While this is true, he is outpacing Pastrnac and Forsberg in the same league |

I do have a suspicion that a deal will be made involving Markstrom if they are not confident in a tandem of him and Bachman. I dont think you can go into next season with Bachman/Demko in the AHL, particularly if Demko is ready to take on the bulk of the starts.
I would take Jimmy Howard's contract off Detroit's hands (with a something extra) in exchange for Markstrom and roll him as the #1 next season |

True, his highlight videos are full of clips of him making a sharp turn or cut to go right up in the goalies space and score from in close. Really nice to see a guy not afraid in the slightest, kind of the bull in china shop mentality |

I hope that they put him in the best position to succeed to start out next year and he's able to take it and run for sure. Best thing they could do would be to sign a vet goalie who is a good backup. |

I think we have seen that this year with Demko and Bachman and it has worked out really well. If the team didn't have Gartieg, who has played quite well too I would have no problem going back to a Demko/Bachman tandem.
I don't like the idea of holding on to older starters at the expense of development.
If it turns out terribly like I said, vet backups are cheap and always available.

Yep, it is very impressive...don't get me wrong I think he is a fantastic prospect and a amazing return for Burrows, I'm just want to see him on NA ice before getting too excited.

I also like to see that he uses the slapshot as well, seems to have a lot of offensive tools. |

Keyword there for me is backup. I think Miller was Willie's crutch, any stumbles or falters that a Markstrom showed, he wasnt allowed to work his way through. Miller, despite any struggles would get to go right back out |

With Miller gone, and the twins realizing they can call it a career, or accept a trade ala Burrows. The rebuild can truly start. |

I think he is our 3rd or 4th best prospect already. Pronman claims he is our top prospect. I still think Boeser is number one. |

As a 27 year old (28 next season) would you really call him a prospect or player in development anymore? I just don't see him turning into a starting goalie into his 30s. If this team wants to get younger, and look to the future, a Miller/Demko duo makes more sense? Miller can retire, Demko will have a few solid season as his backup. I just don't get why we are clinging to Markstrom, when we want to change this team. |

yeah, boeser or Demko is #1, Dahlen would be #3.
If slick willie doens't play the young guys way more in the last 13 games he should be summarily fired... |

Develop in the AHL unless you win a job in training camp. |

goalchies hit their stride later than forwards.. Markie mark can be number one by end of next season... |
