Oh , and i dont have a hatred or anything for Edler, just wondering if with the youth movement you try and clean out some of the ntc baggage and get younger assets ? |

Can't NTC.
Welcome! - VanHockeyGuy
Like your misplaced views about the state of postings on theses threads you are as wrong about this hockey point as well.
A NTC contract clause can be exposed in the Vegas expansion daft. Only a NMC must be on the protected list. Unless theoretically waived by the player. Which the NHL hasn't determined can be rcongnized to happen for the expansion draft. |

Tanking is most definitely a thing... If we finish 28th, we have about a 1 in 3 chance at getting a top-3 pick. If we finish 25th, it drops to less than 21%. And, if we finish 20th, it drops to less than 9%. |

Thanks Carol.
Loving Tryanmpling..... Almost the only reason I tune in these days is to watch Tryamkin manhandle people. Cannot remember any other Canuck D who could do the same effortless physicality. - ebonyswan

Its my understanding he has a NTC not a NMC and nmc is what protects him ? - Tigersmyle
You are correct, Edler is not protected by any clause as he only has a NTC not a NMC.
Welcome to the mosh pit |

Long time watcher, enjoyed reading all you guys for close to a couple years now and finally decided to join/post to get a strawpole response to a question .
Assuming you sit in the Jim Benning catbird seat and Aquilinis and Linden dont hamstring you ...do you go to Alex Edler at end of season and tell him : submit a list of 15 (more or less at your own discretion , just an arbitrary number here ) teams you will accept a trade to or i will expose you to Vegas in the draft ?And shout out to Carol great blogging ! - Tigersmyle
No.
The guy is too good to potentially lose for nothing. Just go to him with a list... and tell him the Sedins aren't going to be back after their contract cuz you're trading them too... at the TDL next season. |

Does anybody else know why Tyamkin keeps one glove on in his fights? Can you ask around Carol? For grip? His opponent knows he will only chuck with his right...he needs to get rid of his glove and utilize his reach with the jab. Easy for him to cut a couple guys open - CanuckDon

So many ppl go on about tanking this season. Why?
Who is so much better that it matters to any great degree in this draft?
Other than a draft number this draft is about who & how he fits into our future & if other pieces r moved around. Way too much is made of tanking. |

Tryamkin/Granlund were so Solid last night! Granlund has pretty much saved himself from the expansion draft, don't see JB exposing him.
Tryamkin doesn't want to hurt people.... that much is obvious. Once he saw that sharp was in pain (might have pulled something) he backed right off. They need to get him to stop thinking, crush guys, toe the line a bit more in my opinion. He's so strong and can pretty much move any player in the NHL, what a great find. - Crazybagoham
Yeah, JB did a great job getting Granola and Bear... |

Yes and why JB traded Hansen. If keeping with the 7F and 3D split. The choice now is Boucher and Guance. Don't think they merit any consideration especially over Granlund.
Otherwise the other scenario, which saves Sbisa, is to go to the 4F and 4D split. There they would have to expose Sutter, Sven and Granlund. That's because of the 3 NMC's of Sedins and LE plus last spot to Bo of course. |

The higher pick applies to all rounds not just the 1st. |

Seems like a risky gamble...if i was Edler's agent, i'd call that bluff and say, fine, expose me and risk losing me for nothing to Vegas.
poor asset mgmt at that point.
No rush, best to be patient.
Best to just approach him and ask him to waive as you would any other player.
Perhaps at the end of next season, when the team sucks (still) and the rabid 'fans' have chased the Sedin's out of town, Eddie will choose to leave on his own accord and we can recoup a pick/prospect. |

Tanking, which the Canucks are doing for all intents and purposes, allows you access to the best young talent in the world before most, if not all, the other teams. It's a tried and true method, in part, to a successful rebuild. |
