Finding the right person/philosophy/strategist/competitor is far more important than whether or not they've had their NHL opportunity yet. Not sure how someone who tried & failed in the NHL is more attractive than someone who's never had the opportunity. Like everything else, it's about management's ability to identify the right candidates regardless of resume. - DrChristianTroy
Well the Canucks have had both scenarios (Torts, Dejardins), and both have failed, but your last sentence is what I believe should happen also.

I don't care if the coach is green, experienced or young as long as he understands that his priority to develop players. I wouldn't even be upset if it is WD next year again as long as he sticks to the goal.
Up until now the mandate has been to make playoffs, mandate has changed it looks. |

Rarely, and when I do Lefty is all over me like a fat kid on a Smartie. You pompous troll. - Marwood
You pompously trolled me and call me out lol. Are you emulating Trumpism with distortion of reality and making poop up. Wait it's St. Patty's Day you are Green Dreaming and moving into the liquid stuff now |

Please no... Aren't there any young up & coming strategic innovative game changers out there? - DrChristianTroy
I would like to think so. Do you know of any? |

Nope, not my job or hobby to conduct coaching searches... but if Francesco wants to throw some $ at me I'd be happy to find him a young hockey version of Pete Carroll. |

0g/0a -1 for Nico in another Mooseheads loss. Been a pretty rough month and a bit for the consensus top 2 pick. Only 1 goal and 8 assists since his 5pt night on Feb 5th. |

Kevin Dineen, Guy Boucher, Kirk Muller , Larry Robinson, or Paul Maclean...Would any of these garner support if the view is that Travis Green is too, well ,"green "for
promotion as Willies replacement ? |

Sorry but flagged for self quoting.
Also the Canucks should just draft the best player in each round.
Hire the best coach in the game.
Sign the best free agents to under market value short term contracts without trade protection.
Win the most games in the season.
Win the most games in the playoffs.
Hoist 26 consecutive Stanley cups.
Than I'll be satisfied, it really is quite simple really. |

Long time watcher, enjoyed reading all you guys for close to a couple years now and finally decided to join/post to get a strawpole response to a question .
Assuming you sit in the Jim Benning catbird seat and Aquilinis and Linden dont hamstring you ...do you go to Alex Edler at end of season and tell him : submit a list of 15 (more or less at your own discretion , just an arbitrary number here ) teams you will accept a trade to or i will expose you to Vegas in the draft ?And shout out to Carol great blogging ! - Tigersmyle |

All the blame right now is on WD. If Benning brings in another rookie coach and it fails who are they blaming next?
Bennings next choice has to be the right one , he is the next in line to blame so I doubt he brings in a rookie - VANTEL
It's not that I want Green here just don't be shocked if he gets his shot.
Not much point in bringing Ruff here to miss the PO's for 4 seasons.
Developmental-wise Green could do a good enough job with the kids to get to a point where we could look at a guy like Ruff. |
