When the canucks were being bounced from 1st rounds they deserved ridicule because they were projected to go farther. They chocked on a regular basis.

The leafs are in a different boat now. Just making the playoffs will be a victory for them even if it's one and done.

They have some great pieces to build a cup competitive team over the next few seasons. they are finally doing it right.

- bloatedmosquito

Projected by WHO? Canucks were too soft for the playoffs. They always had a good regular season team but were not built for the playoffs.

I didn't epect them to beat the Kings or Flames. Playoffs are for men not for teams that turn their cheek and take the abuse

If its not Nolan Patrick do you take a Defence man this draft. I had 4 in my top ten. This draft is looking fairly solid through the 1st round.

Next year is the year to take a d-man, I think there will be a lot taken in the 1st round.

It's BPA, we're not in a position to draft by position unless there's a legit 1C prospect. The same as it's been all year.
- golfingsince

I think there is a few C in the top 6. I don't think we will fall out of the top 6.

I agree with you 100%, I just don't see things the way Vantel does in terms of Toronto and what they're doing. To say that a one and done playoff appearance is somehow a fail is extremely short-sighted.

Their best players are all young, they're developing and growing as a team, obviously what they're doing is successful because they're way ahead of where they were three or four years ago.

Over the next few years if they don't push further, ok, then you can say they didn't follow through. But right now, in my opinion its all positive for them since Shanny took over.

I'm not sure there's a legit 1C in the entire draft. Therefore, i'd go BPA.

No. Hischier is our guy.

The fact that everyone is all over the map and can't come close to deciding who is the leader tells me there is no difference maker

Oddly enough, the year before they played game 7 for the cup. To say they were too soft to win in the playoffs is silly. They weren't deep enough in the middle.

Just ignore. It's easy.
- bloatedmosquito

In that case you have to ignore entire pages, sometimes entire threads. If he's 20%+ of the thread that puts him up there with Tanner.

Watching Nico at world juniors showed me he is a competitor. When the game was on the line he was the one you noticed the most. He elevated his game. That's the player I want. Patrick is slow and I've never been a fan of right handed centres.

Totally okay with whoever JB picks, hope he gets a top 5 seeding though.

Isn't Patrick one of the older draft eligible prospects? I think he barely missed the cut off for last draft. IMO, these things matter.

I'd say there probably is, just not one that stands out or is expected to be an upper tier guy like McDavid.

I'd be more than happy with a John Tavares or Barkov kind of center.

I don't think there's a JT in this draft. Maybe a ROR ?

How come it is short sighted when I say it but when you say it ,it is law when you say it?

I don't know how many times I said last summer that I would be happy with Canucks making the playoffs and jumping up 13 spots . You would be all over me lecturing about what good would that do ?

Consistency please?

Their talent was just too thin, relied way too much on four guys to score. You shut those guys down in the playoffs and there was no one to fill the gap.

Because their best players are all under the age of 26. Ours are still old.
