This guy isn't a scout, he's a freelance writer, but he's compiled some interesting takes on the prospects.

I just had a read on that. I think we will see many different takes on players this draft.

Rasmusen has fallen off for a lot of people. I don't buy into that. He is a huge center that can skate. I don't see him falling out of the top ten.

He has a ton of forwards in his top ten. I am the opposite. I value the D a little more.

I think he's a creative, skilled & more than willing playmaker... seen quite a few of his crazy passes that teammates weren't aware enough to receive or convert. He'll really benefit when he's on the ice with more capable guys. IMO his pro comp is a unique hybrid of Backstrom & Duchene

Watched numerous videos of him, seems to be more of a pure shooter in the Kesler mold than a playmaker. What's your take on that? Definitely a skilled kid though, way more puck skills than Kes, love to add him to the fold.

Respectable size as well. Weighed in at 201 at the beginning of the season. Have to imagine he'll top out in the NHL at 210 at least.

I'd like us to swing another deal & add Makar to the stable.

I had him as first overall in that draft ahead of Ekblad.
- thundachunk

I loved Draiaitl early too but Ekblad is still the clear choice.

He is one concussion away from Lindros status. Which sucks. I still take Draisaitl.

Excellent size already as well. Would certainly not be upset if he were picked by Benning in the draft.

Possible…but I go with Norris quality D over a top 2 centre anyday…just me.

There's going to be some great young players, in five years time, taken out of this draft, the hard part is finding them.

Tanev to the Wings for a 1st+ works for me if it gets us Makar.
If a larger deal & we take a short bad contract so be it.

Yes that's a major plus, size and speed are so important. When you add tremendous puck skill with it you've got the makings of a really good young prospect.

I don't think so, Vegas will have a lot of corporate money. The casinos will chew up the seats as free giveaways to us Canucks going there. I'm pretty sure a Canadian going down there will want tickets to a game, and the rink is on the strip and easily within walking distance.
- Kaynine

Too much is put on seat sales. Sell tickets and you are a success it is believed... but in reality, the team will still suffer even if casino's buy the tickets to give away. To be a profitable successful franchise, you need competitive TV and radio contracts... you need sponsors in bidding wars to get your name on their products... you want hundreds of thousands of items being sold with your logo from clothing to novelty pieces... what ever... sell sell sell...

Just keeping your head above water by selling tickets to a non loyal fan base who doesn't support you away from the rink is not enough.

He's talking about Ekblad, I'm not so sure he's Norris quality quite yet, but definitely a solid #1D. I'd probably take Draisaitl myself over him, just because I value centers over D 1OA. Most of the Norris winners have all been in the 2nd-4th round picks like Subban, Keith, etc. I believe in the last 5 years only Doughty has been a 1st round pick that's won the Norris. I could be wrong though.

I have a strong gut feeling that JB adds another 1st rounder this spring. It will be somewhere between 20-30th. Makar will be gone probably but there are other potential top 4 D that would deepen the pool for us.

I think those comments from JB at the TDL that "a vet was willing to waive for the right team" is going to come back in play. Obviously the top three candidates would be Edler, Eriksson, or Sutter.

But do you value a Big D more than a Little D? What if the little D is really smooth in transition?
Or do you value size most of all when it comes to your D prospects?

IMO SJ would have a really hard time beating either Pittsburgh or Washington in seven game series.

Probably Eriksson I'd think, he's probably feeling the heat and getting the Vrbata treatment. Wouldn't be surprised if he looks across the locker room at the Sedins and goes . o O ( Why the (frank) did I sign that contract for? I'm signed up to play with two elite players and they're boat anchors and now I'm not even playing with them... Playoffs? Playoffs? I'm not going to even SEE the playoffs until 2025 at this rate. Hey Jimmy! Get me the hell out of here, I'm waiving my NMC! I'll go anywhere! Heck, I'll even go to that hole in the desert called Arizona and maybe me and Vrbata can toss back a few beers and female dog about how we got screwed around by JB, WD and the Sedins )

Big or small, I value quality D to quantity.
