IMO SJ would have a really hard time beating either Pittsburgh or Washington in seven game series. - LeftCoaster
Probably but let's get there, first.
Who knows, it could even be Minnesota that comes out of the west. |

Big or small, I value quality D to quantity. - thundachunk
Quality D is hard to find.
Anyone can find any old D in any round, but some stud D your really got to get down in the dirt and search hard for. |

True. Actually I think SJ is going to have trouble from western teams as well. CHI and Minny I think could take SJ and I'm not counting Nashville out. |

Probably Eriksson I'd think, he's probably feeling the heat and getting the Vrbata treatment. Wouldn't be surprised if he looks across the locker room at the Sedins and goes . o O ( Why the (frank) did I sign that contract for? I'm signed up to play with two elite players and they're boat anchors and now I'm not even playing with them... Playoffs? Playoffs? I'm not going to even SEE the playoffs until 2025 at this rate. Hey Jimmy! Get me the hell out of here, I'm waiving my NMC! I'll go anywhere! Heck, I'll even go to that hole in the desert called Arizona and maybe me and Vrbata can toss back a few beers and female dog about how we got screwed around by JB, WD and the Sedins ) - DariusKnight
Exactly. I agree with all of that.

10 of the Nux last 12 games are against teams in the playoffs or fighting for a spot like the Kings...
We should be able to go 3-9 over the last 12 games I think and lock up 2nd last overall... - kaptaan
that should all but lock up 5th overall! |

Agreed.
The way I look at it is, SJ is a contender. I like the odds of them winning the cup better than say.... us moving up 2 spaces in the draft...

Good point, they're hard-pressed to even get out of the West. Hawks are still a very good team and they've got a ton of playoff experience. |

I think they finish 3rd last, win 2nd overall in the lottery, but trade back. |

If he didn't know the path the Canucks were on, his agent did. He came here for 6 million reasons for 6 years and thats end of story. |

We need to get something for Tanev while he is 'healthy'. - LordHumungous
Tanev is our key D man but will be prolly too old when we r ready to contend is the only reason i'd consider dealing him. If not this year then next. |

I don't think he expected the team to be this bad, nor that the Sedins would be as slow and as unproductive as they were. I also don't think he expected to get the Vrbata treatment this early into his contract and probably got assurances that it wouldn't happen from JB before he signed. He came for the money and because he wanted to play with the Sedins, he had other offers elsewhere. |

IMO the Sedins & him prolly talked it out & he signed here thinking it would work out much better than it has but be prolly has his doubts going into next year. That said he signed for 6 yrs & time yet for us to get back on track. |

I'm putting LE lack of production on WD. He has been bumped up and down the lineup, he wasn't given 1st PP time as the net front presence, which is where he is the most dangerous. He has spent most the yr with a Sutter, who is a shooting, puck hogging centerman. As a good coach it's your responsibility to put your players in positions to play to their strengths. WD hasn't done that with LE. Next yr LE will score 25+ goals!

I don't count him out just yet. He can still be a very good player for us in the coming years. Obviously the last couple years probably won't be that good. But thats the problem with signing big UFA's. i.e. Lucic in 5 to 7 years.
He's a very good complimentary player. There just isn't enough around him right now.
So many pieces are needed. BB + a top 6 for Tanev and things could look a lot better up front. |

Getting in to the top 3 at the draft would be a huge chance at first overall pick Nolan Patrick.
Nope. If we finish 28th overall, we'll only have a 10.3% chance at the 1st overall pick. 1 in 10... |

if we had a 99% chance at 1st overall, we'd still lose. |
