No. - Marwood
just watched his grandmother reacting to him being drafted in 2015 draft. family bbq looks like. I'm ok with him returning. Just that UFA loophole scares me. |

if we had a 99% chance at 1st overall, we'd still lose. - storm88
Any other year, that'd be a bad thing... Which makes me think we'll actually win it this year. |

Nope. If we finish 28th overall, we'll only have a 10.3% chance at the 1st overall pick. 1 in 10... - stringerbell
Glass half full, that's better odds than every other team but two |

I posted this in the last blog. There is a lot of time for me to change my mind though. We will see how it looks closer to the draft.
1. Nolan Patrick
2. Timothy Liljegren
3. Michael Rasmusen
4. Cale Makar
5. Gabriel Vilardi
6. Nico Hischier
7. Jusso Valimaki
8. Casey Middlestadt
9. Klim Kostin
10. Callan Foote
Honourable Mentions: Martin Necas and Owen Tippet.
This is just my order. Not saying this is how it will go down. - thundachunk
I don't really care who we get as long as the guy isn't Virtanen like... meaning a potential bust.
Need to get some legit player who can crack this weak lineup filled with 3rd/ 4th liners and be a future top line player...
Sedins need to be split up so we don't have two slow players on the same line... |

Well nobody here thinks next year is very bright myself included.
Funnier things have happened though if CBJ is an example.
1yr older r our prospects & kids. Now if the PP can do anything other than crap the bed that alone moves us up a few spots in the standings. Add to that if the D corp shows more maturity as a unit thats another few spots. Leaves out of the PO's still. If 1-2 other dynamics appear well its fastrak time. Demko would be in the wings a year or 2 later. Thats all pretty wishful thinking but the potential is there. Its on the kids to emerge & take reins & run with it. I'm not betting on it but i do believe the D as a unit will be better. |

JV is only 20 & its premature to make any call on him.
Power forwards take longer as a rule.
Too many ppl r too anxious & he needed akick in the teeth to get his ass moving. |

The Las Vegas franchise will be given the same odds in the 2017 NHL Draft Lottery as the team finishing with the third-fewest points during the 2016-17 regular season.
The Las Vegas franchise's First Round selection in the 2017 NHL Draft will be determined in accordance with the 2017 NHL Draft Lottery and, as a result, the Las Vegas franchise will be guaranteed no lower than the sixth overall selection. - thundachunk
In addition, if both of those teams with equal odds lose in the lotto entirely the Vegas team will pick ahead of them. Plus Vegas has 3rd pick in each remaining round. |

Than perimeter wingers. Harder to be a power forward & impact the game while playng smart. Playing against men is a transition. |

Sutter has 1 goal and 2 assists in his last 17 games playing 18 mins a night.
Shut him down for the season and give that ice time to someone else. |

I throw out JV's 1st pro season being that it was Jr's or here.
I don't think going back would have helped him.
So we burned a year of his ELC to get his feet wet.
He blew it in the offseason not being professional & ready to play.
A setback but nothing overly bad & its a wake up call.
How he responds next training camp will be under intense scrutiny. |

I mean he's helping the tank big time but why risk further injury that could potentially be more serious? |

Much like D men power forwards are just harder to gauge ...you can get lucky and find gems in the 4th or 5th rounds ...guys who aren't NHL ready at 18 but end up better than many first rounders ....which is why you are better off to take skill in the first round over size |

I don't buy into it, perimeter wingers are 3rd and 4th line guys. Power forwards like Dustin Brown and Milan Lucic, true power forwards, were having success at 20 years old.
Brown had 29 goals 74 points in 79 AHL games, Lucic had 17 goals 42 points in the NHL as a 20 year old. |

This ^^
Shut him down ...let him heal ...and then start his off season training so he is ready to go come September |
