I'm not much of a NCAA follower, but was looking up ND info. It says they play this coming weekend and with 2 wins advance to the Frozen Four. Is it all single-elimination at this point forward for the NCAA? - stashu
Yes, it's a 16 team bracket. First two rounds this weekend. Then a week off (because of basketball), and then the Frozen four.

I dont believe in the idea that firing bylsma would give eichel some outstanding sense of entitlement. Eichel will be going into year 3, and gionta will still be the captain of the team, gorges will still be "the right influence to young players" Maybe they still have some "growing up" to do, but its time to go. Now.
My point being they brought these types of players in during the tank years to instill some credibility and respectable figures into the locker room. Show the kids the way. Whether it has worked or not doesnt matter anymore. Its not now, and wont ever be anyones team but eichels. The kids arent 18 anymore. Eichel didnt get here by being entitled, he got here because he is very good at hockey. Let him be good and get a coach in here that will help the team be better. IMO its not bylsma.
Murray should have traded gionta at the deadline regardless of what he wanted. Sorry gionta, youre going to be on your way out anyways and you are having a solid year, see ya. - ieetbred
No guarantee Gionta will be here, nor that he'll be the defacto Captain even if he does come back.
As far as the trading of Gionta, he has a say based on his contract. He only had to provide a list of 5 teams he would go to. Not to mention that he's been a good soldier and earned the right to be able to say no.
How do we know the next coach will be nice and friendly with the players? - sbroads24
Under the assumption that the players win this battle in getting him canned i figure TM would look for someone who would work better with young players.

makes more sense
not going to lie, havn't paid much attention other than fedun getting hurt the other day
mccabe risto
gorges, bogo
falk, nelson
austin
or did someone else get hurt? - homiedclown
Honestly, I have no idea either. I had a lot on my plate this week and hockey was not one of the priority items on it. Just knew Nelson got recalled as well because of an alert on my phone.
I like both those sets of lines but playing with jack doesnt hurt sam..
I expected a much bigger jump in sams development this year and it's almost getting worse as the season goes on while jack has been trending upwards - yen6d1
22 of 43 points in the second half of the season, and already more points than last season with 10 games to go.

You think Sam has gotten worse as the season has gone on?
Good lord. Do you watch the games with your eyes shut? He has some boneheaded moments from time to time, but he's had a pretty decent season. The jump in what he did between his 9 game tryout and last year was huge. Not sure why you thought he'd have another jump like that this year. Especially since he's been moved around the lineup like crazy and has had basically 0 consistency in linemates to lean on.
Where are you getting the part in bold from? - kingcong39
Again i "think" that especially with when the lines get shuffled you always see 23 sliding down the line up also rob ray mentioned it very briefly last week that everyone just assumes it's jack.

Im not talking points, so if you watch the games with your eyes open you wouldve noticed that 5v5 it is like a power play for the other team when sams line is on the ice. I never said he was playing awful. I just think that to be a good team 23 needs to play a heck of a lot better 5 on 5 than he is. He is a second overall pick he needs to start pushing the play more than just on the #1 ranked PP

He disappears way too often for my liking. - sbroads24
No points in his last 3, so can't deny that, but the prior 17 games (which lead up to another 3 game drought), he went without a point in 6 games, only once in those 17 games was it back-to-back games without a point. 14 points in those 17 games.
If only the rest of the team could disappear like that.

It's not always about points is what he's trying to get at

Last I knew a team needed goals, and points contribute to that. Not often I hear of players "disappearing" and it not referring to them contributing to goals

I said not always... yes, you need points. but when youre not scoring on a nightly basis you need to help keep the puck out of your own net which is where I expected him to be improving.
