I'm sorry, perhaps I'm missing something.
What portion of anything you wrote here contravenes the original suggestion that Reinhart plays in a system that does not generate the same number of offensive opportunities over the course of a year as the one Barkov plays in (with the implication of that point being that he might not have taken the "step up" you ask about every time his name is mentioned for reasons entirely separate from individual talent). - Der Kaiser
We need to stop using Barkov as a comparable. Because they are totally different types of players. Barkov is ROR on steroids, who's also good offensively.
As far as the opportunities, I'd wager very few players have the luxury of spending the last year and a half with Jack Eichel, and averaging a lot of minutes on the 1st PP unit. |

Last thing on the Yost clip.
Im inclined to believe its on management (his numbers). Hes by no means perfect, but hes got way too much talent and decent hockey iq for me to ever be convinced that he's not a good D-man or even capable of playing normal top pair mins(27 mins a night is just plain stupid).
Find a stabilizing influence to play with him on that pair, essentially the anti risto and it **should**get better. |

Henrik Sedin
- perceived as non aggressive, non flashy, not "great" at anything kind of player - like his brother
- 1st two years in the NHL - 164 games played and 65 points produced. 0.396 ppg
Brother Daniel, very similar stats/playing style to his bro'
Sam Reinhart
- perceived as non aggressive, non flashy, not "great" at anything kind of player
- 1st two years in the NHL - 150 games played - 85 points = 0.47 ppg
When Henrik and Daniel retire, they'll be remembered for being excellent players who flew under the radar for not being flashy.
Revisionist history on guys like Pastranak and Ehlers is easy to do after the fact. At the time, the top 4 were Ekblad, Rhino, Bennett and Draisatl. Put Rhino with McDavid and Draisatl on the Sabres and we aren't even having this discussion.
Skunk will be fine and was the right pick at #2 in his draft year. |

Because only one of these players mentioned was expected to be a core player. Its not bad to say you want more from a 2nd overall pick while still acknowledging he's been pretty good. Im not even sure where the disconnect is tbh. - Sabresfan-365
I have to disagree here.
Bogosian was brought into the mix to be in the top 3 on the back end.
Ennis was signed to be a staple on the 2nd line.
Neither of those things have workd out. |

his take was that the fact that there are questions around risto are the problem surrounding risto and by extension the sabres.
He brought up three categories, talent reputation and numbers. Most top pairing guys, there are no question marks in those categories. The fact that we know ristolainen fits the first two categories but cant figure out why the numbers category hasnt gotten better than "getting shelled in that third of the ice" presents the biggest problem.
Essentially either the management team isnt capable of figuring it out or risto isnt capable of figuring it out and you probably need to sort that out sooner or later. Comparison to Morgan Rielly is pretty bang on. - Sabresfan-365
Agreed.
I think it's on management to realize he shouldn't be used like Chris Pronger. He's better suited as an equal to someone with puck moving skills on a top pair.
The dude has 45 points. He's obviously ok |

Classic Broads move.
Complain that Reinhart doesn't take a step up like Barkov.
Argue about whether Reinhart has taken a step up, or can be excused from the expectations.
Then claim Barkov isn't even a valid comp, when you are the one who established him as a comp.

Mike says, "Hey, Steve, did you hear about Reinhart?"
"No, what?" says Steve.
"He sucks," Mike implores.
"Really?" asks Steve.
"Nah... just kidding," says Mike, "...or, am I?"
This concludes today's performance of Reinhart sucks unless he's great. |

next your going to tell me the sky is green
this team not an uptempo team trying to score 5 goals again due to the coach - homiedclown
Yet Gerbe thinks we could take Leon Draisaitl and his 65 points .. drop him right into Buffalo and he'd have 65 points. |

Ennis was always signed to be a complimentary guy though, a 2nd liner who could contribute like you said.
As for Bogosian, have i not trashed him enough? Asking seriously by the way cause it has been a while since |

12th is perfect - need him to stay there. If he gets in the top 10, it's a $2m bonus to Jack, hitting our 2017/2018 salary cap |

Murray: "Based on last year's playoffs I was excited about the Kulikov deal, but that's not the way it worked out and I'll take responsibility for that"
Glad he didn't take into account the few other hundred games Kulikov played at a replacement level, and just those 7 from the playoffs. |
