So, I didn't get to watch the game last night, but I have seen the Ristolainen hit.

I don't understand why he was ejected. Yes, it was a penalty, as it as interference because the puck never made it to Guentzel, but in terms of the actual hit, completely clean.

(sorry if this was already discussed ad nauseam last night, I'm too lazy to back read).

I would protect Foligno. I think he's had a really great year for us. One of the few "bright spots" for the most part. He's really found his niche.

Kane is pointless in 5 games and has 2 goals in his last 10.

Still playing well, but I think 6.5 is too high for him. He's regressing back to the 20 goal 35 point guy he was last year

If Eichel get's knocked out with a concussion when he never was within 5 feet of the puck we are screaming bloody murder.

IF he had the puck, the hit is clean.

Sure, I agree. But the kid only needs to keep his head up if the puck is on his stick.

It was deflected before it was even close to him. That's a textbook major interference penalty.

it was interference. That's not deniable. But I don't think it was deserving of anything more than that. Even if it was Jack, I'd agree. It's not like the puck wasn't even near him, because it was clearly just a few feet behind him. The reaction the refs took to this was like the puck was on the complete opposite end of the ice and Risto just took him out for fun. He anticipated the pass which never made it to Guentzel due to it being tipped. But it was still in the same general area.

So again, interference, yes. Game Misconduct/Ejection, no.

Tough to disagree but I believe at least part of it is due to them being mandated to let things go, which is incredibly frustrating.

At least Risto wasn't overplayed last night...

Man, are they bitter over in the Pittsburgh thread. I'm still being attacked this morning from last night having defended Risto not receiving a 10 game suspension like some of those guys want.

I've been in and out recently so I don't know if this has been discussed.

1) Evan Rodriguez has been an absolutely revelation. For a couple of years we have been arguing about Larsson making Gus expendable - ERod makes both of them expendable. He has probably been our second best player over the last 5 games.

2) Reinhart should never play with Jack again. He looks like a completely different player when he is at center.

If he gets suspended at all, I swear I'll lose it. Yes, it was worthy of a penalty as it was interference, but the actual hit itself was clean. He didn't target his head or leap off his feet or anything like that.

It was said last night but I think the hit is as simple as Ristolainen saw the opportunity to step up and into a player who was getting a pass, and when he saw the pass tipped and not get to the player, it was too late to fully stop, so he turned his back.

For as hard as he hit him, I believe he could have hit him even harder had he not let up a bit.

Disgree with the way NHL refs call games.
Nyqvist slashed a guy in the face on purpose and got a 4 min penalty.

I think the part in bold is very good as it will help keep them undeterred in what the goal must be this offseason and long term.

Not saying he's a bad player, but signing him to an extension is a bad idea, IMO.
