I guarantee that Sedins are officially the second line next year. If for no other reason than positive PR. THe new coach will bring huge change. Change - CanuckDon
They are good for the tank . They will get us the lottery pick next year |

Agreed, what's coming is something to look forward too. |

35 % ,350 PTS came off the PP
Ryan Kesler who spent years playing alongside of them on the PP has 122 PPP with the Canucks . Why the big discrepancy in points? Shouldn't his number be close to theirs?
I think we both know they spent most of the time looking for each other only. If your looking at numbers good for them. - VANTEL
Kessler spent 2 or 3 years with them on the PP. Samuelson spent time, Anson Carter spend time, Bertuzzi spent time, Hansen spent time.
We had the top PP in the league for a few years, so there's a little more than numbers at stake.
You don't like them, we get it. Anybody who's ever read this thread gets it.
What you seem to fail to understand is, that despite your hatred for years they were top players in the league. Even now, when age is clearly catching up to them they are still among the better players on the team.
You're trying to blame the team sucking on 4 players. Your golden boy Sutter makes $4.4 million for his 29 points and -18. |

Megna simply replaced Linden Vey as Willie's love interest. What he sees in either of those two players is bewildering.
His rationale for line configuration and player deployment is bizarre, but of even more concern is the systems and strategies he's implemented.
I can't imagine how frustrating it would be to play for him. Even when they have possession in the other team's zone they don't actually have the puck in a position where they'd have any chance to score. They're constantly rimming the puck or dumping it back into soft areas for a retrieval. Then back to the point and another dump in behind the net. They're content to chase around the perimeter and are never threatening.
Then you watch how useless their forecheck is and how easily the opposition exits from their zone once they regain possession and, by comparison, how difficult it is for the Canucks to get out of their own zone. That's not just young D and ineffective wingers not executing, that's the lack of a successful plan.
Then there's:
- Failure to even recognize that PP1 has not been working for years let alone make any fundamental changes to the configuration. How you don't address the soul-crushing loss of momentum they always get from their complete failure of a powerplay, is like, WTF?
- The deterioration of the PK this season when they still had seasoned veterans who were noted for that role.
It's not all due to a lack of talent when, no matter who you're playing against, the other coach's strategy is getting them 35+ shots and you're lucky to hit 24.
If the rumours are true that some other teams would be interested in him if he's being let go, let him out of his contract at the end of the year and he can go become someone else's problem. At least the Canucks would be able to beat that team next year. - YeOldTimer
Well said. Nice breakdown. So much credit was given to WD saying players are not giving up and keeping games close. Like that was the best this group could do. The counter, that another coach, or if WD changed what he was doing, would have had better results or at least the team looking better in its play, was dismissed too often. |

He also has more goals that the 6 million 7 million dollar men . I know you are going to throw out the assist stat but take away 12 each from Hank and Dank setting each other up.
I think it is foolish to blame the guy the kills penalties ,has the best face off % and more goals . When you spend 25 mil for 40 goals now that's crazy |

You think it's foolish to blame the guy that isn't swedish. Hank has never been a goal scorer, yet he only has 2 less than Sutter. Daniel only has 2 less as well, and isn't -18.
Sutter sucks a plenty, the difference is he's still in his prime and sucks. At least the other two are being paid for things they have accomplished not something they never will. |

DCT was trying to get this point across last night. If the Sedins were not resigned three years ago we would have finished dead last last year with the best odds for Laine or Matthews We would have also been in the running for McDavid and Draisitl and Ekblad. The list goes on.
Instead we chose four years of being bad , just not bad enough. You think the criticism is bad this year wai until next and I am not talking about me. |

But you have a Sedin jersey
You know. I was not ever high on the Sedins. But not low either. I was surprised at what they were able to do in their prime. I think they are unique as players playing together. The passing cycle game was their signature. They have good work ethic and so forth. But that's all passed.
IMO since the Bure, Linden hey day I think Canucks never had a legit first line talent. For a couple years they had Bert, Naz and Morrison before that broke. Just like Sedins with Burrows for a coupe years around Cup run. Other then that I don't think Canucks have had a bona fide NHL first line. They are trying to form one now around Bo. Let's see if they get there. Not sure if WD is the coach to figure that out. JB is trying to acquire the talent. |

Had we never drafted them we could have had Toews and Kane. We re-signed them when we were coming off back to back PT trophies. At the time, we all said 1 year too long.
Imagine that, 3 years and they'd be off the books this year either gone or coming back on the cheap for vet leadership. |

I know for a fact that you thought signing 30 year old 31 goal scorer Eriksson was a bad signing . He will be 36 when the deal is up . So how come signing two 32 year olds for more money doesn't get the same ill feelings.
Actually two years too long and now people (not including me ) are female doging
For the record I would have been happy if Gillis didn't sign them back then too , but you knew that too. |

Because signing the two faces of your franchise (including your captain) is different than signing a street FA, especially another 3 years down the road.

Not really, that money gets you Lucic and who in FA? Lucie has 16 goals playing with the top scorer in the league.
You should be happy we didn't have the space to sign him and LE. |

I know you think I wanted Lucic at 6 for 6 but you would be wrong.
I wanted him a year earlier at 4x5. I would have walked away if I was the Oilers |
