Early in the season i had Vilardi top 3.
Mittelstadt has passed him & Glass is making a strong push also.
Necas is real interesting pick for someone.

I'd like to see us blow it up more & get another 1st.
Depending on who is traded & where that pick ends up i like Petterson Foote.
If any of our prospects eg Winger is moved then Tippett looks very good.
Is JB motivated to deal or package up players for something big?

There is going to be some really solid players available at 30-35 as well. I had forgotten how exciting 2nd round picks can be.

Thinking JB will stick with his trend of trading for young skilled prospects.

It wasn't the right pick, you can't draft based on need. The NHL draft is difficult enough to evaluate to begin with, why limit yourself by only targeting specific positions/styles and make it even harder?


I'd rather be overloaded with quality young skilled wingers and then trade one of them if need be to fill a position of weakness. Not like teams wouldn't be lining up for a Ehlers/Nylander/Tkachuk.

We don't really need any wingers compared to Big hard C and quick hard shooting D.
If there are only winners ranked where we draft I hope we can trade down to get both the next ranked D/C and pick up a third or second as well.

People who watched them knew they were different animals. Virtanen had a man's body with great speed so a lot of his goals/chances came from just being stronger/faster than most CHL'ers. His play style was always Booth/Kreider like, come down the wing and try to make something happen. Never had the best offensive game when his team has sustained offensive zone time. Not a guy who made his linemates look better than they are, a lot of independent play off of the rush. Powerful shooter who thrives in space.

Tkachuk isn't a great skater at all, is a very good playmaker, better in the cycle game and can create offense in other ways besides off the rush. Not a pure sniper, but very good at creating offense in tighter space for both himself and teammates.

You cant just look at every winger who plays physical in the same way, outside of their physicality, they were very different players.

Could work well for us. Also i like to advantage of AHL if he is not ready for NHL. his 167lbs says his body is not matured enough for it.
