I just don't like a SO deciding games & encourage it to be won playing it out. Loser point is bad enough but splitting up 3 points in OT makes teams win in regulation if more important in a PO push. SO win gives no loser point so teams don't coast in OT if risking a point is costly.

Also, i agree with your points above. no shootout loser point forces a team desperate for points and bad at shootouts to go balls out in the OT to win...

So you preach tanking and getting the best pic or player possible ...but now you want to not win the lotto and get a lesser player

Conversely, what if teams who are bad a shootouts have the puck in the final 3 seconds of OT and 'accidentally' score an OG to secure a point and not risk getting 0 points (from losing the SO)?
