It's good to see it though and not just sit here and think it all the time.
It's reassuring. |

This is what I mean. For a winning team in the AHL, those are pedestrian numbers when it comes to GAA and SV% - BiggE
The Phantoms win a lot because they have a stacked offense. They aren't great defensively. Brennan and O'Neill are one-way dmen. |

Im reading excuses being made for Gostisbehere. His struggles, including the breakdown of his fundamentals of defensive play such as stick position and defensive positioning that led to him being scratched has zero to do with his partners. MacDonald is, and has been a top 4 NHL defenseman pretty much his entire career. - MJL
You still wanna tell me VLC is a 2C? Perhaps we should give him a call for some more center depth. Or perhaps, that the cap will continue to rise?
Why was Amac demoted last year then? Career NHL top-4 defenders don't get sent to the AHL, ever.
If he's having such a good year, how is it that literally every skater on the team spends more time in their D-zone with him on the ice? How, out of the 10 skaters that have played atleast 200 minutes with Amac, does 9 of those skaters have a better GF% with him off the ice than with him on it?
I'm not even gonna start on Ghost because I feel dumb even typing this much out because you gotta win the internet; all day everyday. |

I'm strongly considering trading Simmonds if I'm Hexy this summer
My reasons
1. He's 3 years older than Schenn and is soon going to command more money/term than him for doing similar things.
2. He has a much higher trade value than Schenn coming off 2 years of 30 plus goals. Plus all the intangible crap you can sell.
3. The glut of RW on this team. Schenn can slot in at RW which is where he has looked his best.
4. Lindblom's game is excellent in and around the net, and he would be more dangerous having the puck on his stick down low on the PP
I can see a case for staying status quo and letting things shake out one more year. But Simmonds value will not be any higher - Just5
I say all the time Schenn is better now at age 25 than Simmonds was at 24. I'm trading neither guy and even if I was considering it, what are we trading them for? |

Prove that they spend more time in the defensive zone then without him? We can all pick and choose team metrics to suit a narrative. MacDonald being sent down was cap related, even Hextall said he belongs in the NHL. Not wanting to start on Gostisbehere is more evidence of an obvious bias similar to the excuses earlier for him. |

A top four NHL defenseman his entire career. One that was banished to the minors for half a season.
And since the Flyers cap issues are overblown hyperbole, what was the reasoning for MacDonald being sent to Lehigh Valley. Eagerly await your reply! |

Maybe Hextall couldn't say his actual feelings. That kind of profanity wouldn't be acceptable, kind of like his feelings on the season.
Or maybe he has bad opinions on a bad defenseman. It just doesn't make sense that a legitimate top four defender gets sent down simply for cap reasons. |

If Amac was a top-4 D-man, they would have made it work with the cap to keep him up.
You don't like the metrics I used to determine they spend more time in the D-zone, but you wanna argue about goals now too? While you're at it, please use your Ph.D. in mathematics, statistics, physics, economics, and hockeying to come up with a better metric for zone time.
How about you prove he's a top-4 D-man considering you may be the only one naive enough to suggest he is one? |
