To be fair, 5 defensemen on the team average at least 19:30 mins of ice time per game. It would have been 6 if Streit was still here. Soo... on this team, 3rd pair dmen do average almost 20 mins of ice time. I think that says something, though - Coleman
3rd pair defenseman don't average 20 minutes of ice time on any team in the NHL.

I don't think AMAC is a "turd". he just isn't what his salary and ice time indicates. - nastyflyergirl
Haha I use the term 'turd' loosely. He's aight, but I'm just tired of guys that are so plain jane.
I watched him yesterday, he wasn't terrible but I will be glad when he's off the club. If he is I suppose, they may try to re-sign him after. God that would make this place fun.

He wasn't terrible, but he wasn't as good as he has been, and has had a few sub par games in a row. It was another flat and unacceptable effort in a road game last night by pretty much the entire team.
You know... I really may get my wish. They go with Stolarz/Lyon and Neuvirth, thats basically tanking.
He's a sly one Hextall. - flyer_nutter
if that is the way next year shakes out next season it will be another cluste(frank).
Hextall has to start having the team show some growth under his stewardship. Another DNQ for the playoffs next year isn't going to fly.

A handful of #Flyers -- including Weise and Manning -- refuse to talk. Upset that it was written they played without heart last night.

When you look at the team the Flyers had when they last made the finals, makes you realize how far off they really are.....goal-tending aside, that team was stacked. This team really needs to hit on the prospects currently in the system.

Manning didn't even play last night did he? If the media can't get quotes from Wiese they are doomed!

Like I stated before, "Top 4 defenseman" is a meaningless term. AMac is playing and has played top four minutes since 09-10, this is true. However, each and every one of those teams was a bad to mediocre team. Counting this season, in those 8 years, his team only reached the playoffs 3 times and NEVER WON A (frank)ING ROUND.
Lets try this on for size, if AMac spent the last 8 years playing for Chicago, would he have still been getting top 4 minutes? Yeah, didn't think so.
The goal is to able to compete for a Cup. On a LEGIT CONTENDER, Andew MacDonald is a 3rd pair Dman who should be making no more than 2.5 million per season. Also, if he was a legit top 4 defenseman for any team in the NHL (NOT), someone would have grabbed him off of waivers. 5 million per is not out of line for a guy who can play top 4 minutes for a contender and since at least a few of the other 29 teams weren't right up against the cap, I just can't understand how he possibly went unclaimed. Wait, now I remember, it's because he's NOT THAT GOOD!!
OK, I'm through. Going to do something more productive right now, like pounding sand.
All you're doing here is dodging and making false claims to what I said. Top 4 defenseman normally aren't demoted, but it was a unique situation. Here we are and MacDonald is averaging 20 a game on the top pairing. That those coaches are no longer coaching in the NHL has no bearing on what MacDonald is as a player. One player doesn't determine how a team fares. - MJL
You're using TOI as the basis for your argument, but the coaches have no bearing? Hilarious.
He is averaging 20 minutes a night for a team that is 7 points (potentially 9 points) out of a playoff spot. You must be so proud.

I hate Carchidi. He has been trying to start something for a couple weeks now posting inflammatory things to get the team riled up. He point blank asked Giroux if they quit on the season a few games ago. If the universe has a sense of irony, Carchidi would have a clogged artery.

I didn't see Manning play with any heart at all last night.

I think Hak and the core are safe for one more year. Just my vibe. He adds Lindblom and maybe 1-2 of the rookie d-men.
Now lets say the core has a repeat season next year. Then its decision time. Personally, I'd blow it up now but thats just me.
