Doesn't seem baffling to me. We don't know how many years and how much money Mason wants, and we don't know what price Hextall would be OK bringing him back at.

If Mase was a .920 goalie this year like he was his first three years as starter, it would be baffling.

This doesn't smell like a normal contract negotiation to me. I could be wrong, but there has been radio silence from either side regarding this.

Can we talk about Steven Mason for a second?

What is going on between this organization and Mason that us fans don't know about? It truly is baffling to me that he does not seem to be in the future plans of this team, but Neuvirth is?

He was pretty honest in his post-game presser last night. Just add it to the amount of evidence that suggests there is some friction between Mason and this team/organization.

Overwatch is a cool game, but the steep learning curve had me choosing between it and playing everything else. I went with the latter.

Once we're done discussing how useful the term "top 4 defenseman" is, we can discuss how useful describing the Flyers as a ".500 team" is.

If Lyubimov the only healthy scratch because Cousins stayed home?

I'd expect him to go back to Russia after this season.

I wish I knew, but there has to be something going on. I prefer Mason, and I don't trust Neuvirth as a starter.

They only wanted to put so much term and money into a goalie. I also think they have a feeling Sandstrom is coming over which means they would have 3 young goalies for 2 AHL spots and one spot on NHL roster.

Neuvirth fit what they wanted to spend on a goalie who can split time next season with one of the younger goalies.

Maybe it's risky. But the team is still a little away from being a contender so the risk might be ok for them.

I think Mason would be more a priority if this team was looking to contend for a cup next season.

On the subject of Mason talking and criticizing the team, he is always there in front of the media giving a harsh but fair assessment of himself and the team. He rarely is a guy who gives cookie cutter answers, and he's not afraid to turn the spotlight on himself when he's been bad. After every game, he's always ready to be interviewed.

Really? I personally think it's a game that is incredibly easy to pick up and play, at least for certain characters (maybe you used more difficult ones?), but difficult to master.

It's a shame they're going back to cheaping out on goaltending after years of reasonable stability (despite not being all that competitive).

Top 4 defenseman is not a meaningless term. Whether MacDonald should be, or would be a top 4 defenseman on a top team, is a different discussion.

A player is either a top 4 caliber player, or they are not. Doesn't matter what team they play for, or because of team roster or overall talent or lack there of, what situations they play in.

He's still young, and he flashed potential at times, although chained to the Untouchables. I hope he gets a job on some other NHL team. It's not a Medvedev situation. And he understands English well too.

I didn't find it easy to get acclimated, personally. Combine that with a community that makes character selection a bit stressful (I understand though, it IS important), and I see it driving off a lot of less competitive players.
