He's still young. I hope he gets a job on some other NHL team. It's not a Medvedev situation. And he understands English well too.
- Mononoke

That would be better for us because Hextall would have to trade his rights.

I just wonder if he could play more hockey and make as much or more money back home. Living in America as a foreigner isn't always that much fun.

It's been reported that they haven't even had a conversation on a new contract. Such as hey Steve, any interest in a 2 year deal?
- MJL

Hey steve, how about we cut your pay in half?

Maybe the plan doesn't work but I think they didn't want to commit term or money to a goalie they plan to move on from in about a year or 2

Watched the video (I don't trust transcribers when quoting the Flyers lol)

No bombshells, seemed like a pretty honest assessment

- Scoob

Agreed, but the Weise and Manning seem to find similar comments pretty unreasonable so idk

how can Dave Hakstol justify demoting Travis Konecny to fourth line duties?

It's a shame they're going back to cheaping out on goaltending after years of reasonable stability (despite not being all that competitive).
- BulliesPhan87

Not sure it's being cheap.

My feeling is they don't want to commit term and money to a player they hope to move on from in a year or 2. The hope is one of the youngsters is ready.

On the subject of Mason talking and criticizing the team, he is always there in front of the media giving a harsh but fair assessment of himself and the team. He rarely is a guy who gives cookie cutter answers, and he's not afraid to turn the spotlight on himself when he's been bad. After every game, he's always ready to be interviewed.
- Mononoke

this was my read as well...had no issue with what he said

If true they're just in denial. And Mason will get run out of town like Cechmanek did for his honesty.

The only way they have a chance not to be in this position is to make moves, and one of those moves must be a core player. If not, it will be another hot mess.
I would listen to offers/ shop Jake.

- 3flyerkids

Hextall has to figure out free agency. These European stiffs he's signing the Medvedev's Lyubimov's Bellemare's are a waste of time.

if that is the way next year shakes out next season it will be another cluste(frank).
Hextall has to start having the team show some growth under his stewardship. Another DNQ for the playoffs next year isn't going to fly.

I really find Carchidi's new "deal one of the core" mantra annoying, even by his low standards. If you're not going to be specific about which one you would move and what you expect to get for them, then it's a really cheap line.

Moving one of the core will only improve the team if you get back better players in return. That's possible, of course, but at least have some kind of plan in mind. He probably doesn't want the blowback of publicly stating that Simmonds would be the easiest to move for a solid return due to his contract.

With the year he had, how much leverage does he have?

Sorry to say but they will be a bubble team next year.

It's comical that people are calling for total change and yet the GM before the season even started had stated he could see a step back this season.

Absolutely. It's the same as some posters saying break it up. If only it was that easy.

I don't know.

Maybe he thought he would play out of it and bring his value up.

The Flyers obviously didn't want to have the season end without at least one goalie signed to meet ED requirments. Maybe Neuvirth took the first offer to sign and secure his spot.

If the Flyers add a substantial amount of youth, we could see another step back.

The Switch is worth buying just for Zelda.

Haven't tried Andromeda yet but I'm a big fan of the Mass Effect series.

Just got into Overwatch yesterday

- Mordecai

I have Zelda for Wii U, not as crisp as on the Switch, but is the same exact game. Incredible game, but nothing groundbreaking if you have played an open world game before.

I have Andromeda on PC, looks fantastic in 2160p. If you loved the previous games in the series then it's the same with a continued great story and tons of content.

Overwatch...it's been sitting on my desk unopened for almost a year. Friends say it's one of the best competitive games available right now, plus it's Blizzard.

Weise and Manning can be upset about what the press writes all they want, but they should save their ire for the opposition. The Flyers played against a team missing 5 regular NHL defenseman, and were only able to generate 30 shot attempts, not shots on net, but shot attempts. If that is playing with heart, then this team really stinks.
- MJL

Perfectly said! And a journeyman goalie to boot!

A top 10 pick doesn't mean you can't be competitive the next year. You have to supplement quality free agents with the young players. The Flyers aren't going to be built into a contender by strictly drafting.

Yeah.

I think they will be right around the same though. Looking at next year they look to have about the same mix of vets and youth(trying to project youth who make the roster)

I can't buy a console for just 1 game, especially a game I don't have time for. We'll see in the future. I need new hockey gear too, so I think that's where I'd spend that money.

Andromeda got really bad reviews, all things considered and the hype it had. Supposedly there were production issues too behind the scenes.

I have Overwatch. I really like it and played it for a couple months, but my friends stopped playing it after, and with online games, as they go I go. Zenyatta is my guy btw.

- Mononoke

I agree even though it may be the best game I've ever played.

The Switch is a cool concept though, and works rather well. I move around a lot, and taking the xbox or PC is a pain in the nuts so I was sold on this concept rather easily. Being able to bang out 10 minutes here and there also does wonders. It basically gives you time to play games that you never knew you had.

I'd probably still wait until the end of the year though. New Mario should be out by then, and you could probably grab a discounted Switch + Zelda bundle on Black Friday.

If Rocket Leagues gets made for this thing, it would be worth it 10x over. One of the few multiplayer games I always come back to.

But you have to do that at the right time.

Have you seen the FA class next season? Not much that really helps. Filppula is like our FA for next season.

Now the year after could be a different story
