Vorecek is a total mess defensively and the other guy is a pup..... it was more of a rhetorical comment. I don't mind Filpula, I think he is what he is....a skilled guy who can be a decent piece and chip in at both ends of the ice.....Id rather have him then all but about 4 or 5 other guys up front. - landros 2
Agreed and kudos for pointing out what nobody wants to say, and that is that Voracek has not been good lately, and has been brutal away from the puck. |

I dont think the 1C target should be someone you all know as an NHL player. Most of the time, the reason you know about him is because he is scoring and in his prime. There is also very little reason for a team to trade a player like that at that time, putting the value beyond what should be considered reasonable. The goal is to find a 1C that grows (and ages) with the rest of the prospect core that Hextall has established. So think this draft year + 1 or 2, and to a smaller extent, even next years draft.
They should be trying to find the next Draisaitl/Trocheck/etc, not paying for the current one |

You're overrating cap space on a team that is going nowhere the next couple years. If they were a legit contender, then it might make sense. - PhillySportsGuy
Yes, they don't need to pay a price for extra cap space until summer 2019. |

Most of the time. But you can look to trade for it.
I mean Dallas didn't draft Seguin.
In regards to drafting for one I actually like Vilardi from Windsor. But your going to have to be in the top 3 to get him. |

oh im on the 1C train...but I derail when it comes to EDM trading Draisaitl - YuenglingJagr
If you wanna get Draisaitl out of Edmonton you'll need to put Provorov on the table. |

If a team is looking to get rid of a player for reasons like Seguin...the Flyers should absolutely be in on that *cough* Drouin *cough* |

I'm strongly considering trading Simmonds if I'm Hexy this summer
My reasons
1. He's 3 years older than Schenn and is soon going to command more money/term than him for doing similar things.
2. He has a much higher trade value than Schenn coming off 2 years of 30 plus goals. Plus all the intangible crap you can sell.
3. The glut of RW on this team. Schenn can slot in at RW which is where he has looked his best.
4. Lindblom's game is excellent in and around the net, and he would be more dangerous having the puck on his stick down low on the PP
I can see a case for staying status quo and letting things shake out one more year. But Simmonds value will not be any higher - Just5
This sounds to me more like you want to move Schenn as opposed to Simmonds. |

Which he wouldnt...but I think they would need to see NHL talent and experience at defense for them to even consider...it's just not worth talking about because it isn't happening |

That's what I dont get. How anyone can beleive that Simmonds could be the center piece of a deal netting Draisaitl is beyond me. Even with Sanheim and a 1st added. |

I will say that the core of this team does do one thing very well consistently. They have mastered the post-game presser. |

he looked really good the first 2 games then not so much since but since he has been here Coots has looked good so on that alone I am good with the trade. I think I would put Jake back with Giroux and simmonds with Filppula - nastyflyergirl
I don't think it's reasonable to assume Couturier's increased scoring has anything to do with Filppula unless you have evidence that suggests his matchups are easier now. I think it's just a normal hot streak that most players have throughout the season. |

I think Yzerman gutted his team at the deadline so he wouldn't have to move Drouin for cap reasons. Palat might be the odd man out in Tampa, unless they expose Killorn and Vegas take him even though he has six (six!) years left. |

So, is Lamarche now a legit AHL player now? If I recall correctly, he's been playing in the ECHL for the majority of his time in the organization. How many defensemen would have to be on their deathbeds for him to get called up to the NHL? |

Yeah to be clear I was referring to what was discussed at the time of the Drouin situation. Not saying he is available (I have no idea, but would assume no)
I forget when I said it (before Filppula trade I hope) but I just had the feeling Yzerman would make it all work. He's done everything right to make that happen. |
