I think it's less about actual dollars, and more about not looking foolish, paying a bunch of people to not work for him. - sbroads24
Refusing to make a mistake is making a second mistake.
You look like a bigger fool for making two mistakes than you do for making one. |

Seriously, what stable coach would come here when we change out coaches/management on the drop of a hat.
Ruff/Rolston/Lafontaine/Black/Nolan, now Bylsma and Murray?
They need to stick with this group for another year, or at least into next year.
This is getting silly the amount of change with these teams |

Good read. There was an article that said that Ryan's ESPN salary will be paid to the Pegulas because of how the Bills contract was written. If anything, Pegula seems to have a shorter fuse than when he started. I still don't think he'll fire Bylsma because the team hasn't fully quit on him. Two blowout losses to the leafs could change that.
We need someone with some juice. This guy is so uninspiring |

What if he knew or should have known the engine was faulty/not very good from day one?
Edit: Even if kulikov didnt blow out his engine, the engine was outdated and not even remotely good enough to race in this league at that level. Thats on Tim for thinking he could get away with that - Sabresfan-365

There are 30 head coach jobs. A coach would be crazy not to take a job, especially one with a bona fide super star like Eichel |

Of course they should. They were hired. One was extended.
These are the consequences of purposely losing. You need to then show any semblance of stability. |

Average tenure of an NHL Coach is 2.4 years.

Bylsma will be here 2 years in May.
Not so silly in my view.
Your move. |

Rolston was an interim guy no? Nolan was senor tank. I think stability becomes an issue when it seems irrational or reactionary. This was going to be Murrays last year on his original deal anyways. He gambled on fast tracking it and it backfired, not sure anyone would really disagree with his dismissal (not to the point where theyd reference it as instability). |

This may be true but derailing it meant going from 3rd pair guy to looking like gorges.
He went from stink to stank, doesnt really absolve murray of blame for bringing that guy to play top pair minutes and thinking its a good enough d group for the playoffs. - Sabresfan-365
dude was missed most of camp and was injured in the preseason...he never recovered from that injury |

Like Babcock? We've seen this movie before.
You need an actual good replacement if you are firing a guy who has actually done something at this level. |

So we shift from "lack of stability" to "lack of qualified replacements" as the reason to keep Bylsma.

We all know he wanted to go to Toronto. He said from the second he was thinking about leaving Detroit that he wanted to do 2 things: Increase coach salary across the league and coach an original 6 team.
He played us. He hit it and quit it. He drove his own price up and then went where he was always planning to go. 100% he used Pegula/Buffalo as his tool to achieve those goals. |

Yeah but that was the biggest FA coach in a long time who wanted an original six team. A hungry college coach isn't going to stay at his current job when the Sabres call for an interview |

How about all of it?
It's really easy to be intentionally bad. It's really easy to fire a coach.
The hard part is hiring the right people.

The Pegulas wanted a big name for both organizations
It's why Rex Ryan was hired for the Bills and its why they went after Babcock first and Bylsma after Babcock turned them down.
They learned their lesson on Rex will they learn their lesson on Disco? |

Funny how in the world, there's very few people in charge of this, yet so many people who supposedly suck at their job.

still not sure why they didnt wait till after this year to decide on a murray's extension. Wouldn't you want to see how the product looks before committing him for another 3 or 4 years? - Sabresfan-365
Because Pegula is a dumb dumb. |
