I don't think we could afford to pass on Casey if he's available.
His skating and stick handling is absurd, he reminds of a bigger, tougher version of Mitch Marner. - Whiskey-Tango
Mitch Marner is a busty bust though.
Shoulda gone Strome. |

how many people can honestly say they were thrilled when Boeser was selected. No one knew about him. Trust in Benning and his drafting. - Codes1087

Nucker101 applauded that pick immediately. I didn't know much about him. Everyone I wanted was gone earlier... thank you Benning.

@23OA it doesn't get the same fanfare or attention. - Nighthawk
yes it does... As a Canuck fan, you weren't anxiously waiting the draft till we finally picked at 23? And then when Benning called on Boeser, you weren't a little bit "who the (frank) is this kid?" |

I read up on everyone in the top 30, and not once did I read anything on Boeser prior to him being drafted. I had read more info on 3/4 of the kids picked in the second round as well. |

US born players don't get the same amount press as CHL players.
Same goes for the Euros but closer to the draft we get more insight.
Still though their prominence in the rankings appears eventually. |

I'm a bit of a draft pessimist this year.
Outside of the top two I don't see any elite talent and even then I Soulja put this year's top 2 in the 5 to 8 hole if they were in last year's draft.
Please temper your expectations for this year, remember that all year this draft had been seen as the weakest draft in years and years.
I like the top 20 or so but I'd see them as being top 40 in most good years.
I have no stats or data or even gut feelings to back this up, only the fact that until recently all the experts were pegging it as a very very weak draft class.
I don't think it'll be as bad as the Sedins draft year but not quite as good as the Yakupov draft year.
Well now that I've painted a target on my ass..... anyone else think Goldy should switch spots with Chaput for offensive zone duties.
I know that he's no Megaman but put him in a strictly offensive roll and see what happens.
Flame on flamers - Pres.cup
My guess was way off last year, I expect this year to be the same. Lottery & luck, i'll be happy with the 4th pick and that may be a reach.

Not gonna lie, I thought he'd be gone to 5 that year.....
OK I lied, I had no fracking clue who the frac he was, felt .... wtf JB, whoa this is a wierd pick.... JB sure picked that one correctly however. |

All it took for me was to see he was a scorer, who overcame adversity, with decent size. Sold |

Consolidated draft rankings:
https://canucksarmy.com/2...ted-draft-rankings-march/
1. Patrick.
2. Hisch
3. Vilardi.
4. Liljegrin.
5. Mittelstadt.
Of interest to some here, they got Necas at 8, Makar at 9 and Foote at 18.
Anyone have a read on Vilardi, as frankly, I don't get his high ranking.
His stats for a top 3 pick coming out of the OHL don't seem to warrant the position while his highlights are even more alarming.
His skating looks below average and most of his goals appear to come from banging the puck into the net from the crease... - Whiskey-Tango
Vilardi is a "safe pick." Good size, strong, no real weaknesses. The ratings are so volatile that the order should shuffle dramatically based on how prospects perform in the playoffs.

I dont think it just oysters carol. Both myself and a girlfriend got some poisoning tuesday night from chicken wings. Had it also weeks back from seafood at the casino restaurant.
In my practice Ive seen several patients mention recent food poisoning as well.
Something is definitely happening in Vancouver area that way. Perhaps all the food processed or packaged at a certain facility. |

This recent article breaks down JB's career on picks. It doesn't show JB in a good light picking round 1&2.
http://thehockeywriters.c...ancouver-canucks-problem/
I think they are misinterpreting. But like many have said it's finding gems especially in lower picks/rounds that make the difference. I like his picks on Tree and Guadette so far as an example. |

I'd be satisfied with Mittelstad at 3rd overall. He is rarely ranked in the top 5 but he has consistently been in the top 10. He would form a nice tandem with Horvat. |

I had heard that the first groin injury/surgery they knew they were going to need to repeat it a second time for the other side, but it should not be an issue anymore. I may have heard wrong though. - Retinalz
It's an issue for sure and teams are taking note. |

Ya he looks good.
Nico H looks like a great pick. I am shy of Patrick due to the injury history. Remember he still has to go up a few leagues playing against full grown monsters like Thornton, burns, doughty and getzlaf.
Nico H is really talented. Scores from everywhere. PLaymakes as well. |

Prefer a guy with less injury history. I also think Nico has the higher ceiling. |

A top 2 pick would be a grand slam
A top 5 pick would be a win
A top 10 pick is what should be expected.

I have ran various simulations based on where I anticipate we finish the season and our most likely draft picks would be 6 or 7
I really hope we can sneak into the top 5 to get Mittelstad or Nico |
