I dunno coach. Talbot turned out pretty good as a starter backing up Lundqvist in New York playing in minimal games. I think a couple years as a backup in the NHL has its advantages as opposed to being a career AHL tender. |

So after a full season of watching hall, you don't believe he's one of the games premiere left wingers?
And the trade in hindsight ? |

I was on the record of stating the trade was more fair than people made it out to be right from the start.
Hall has a ton of skill. Seems his problem is between his ears, he spends a lot of time skating the puck in as fast as he can, doing a half circle, then losing the puck or passing behind a team mate. Turns the puck over a lot.
On the plus side, he creates a lot of shots for himself and has an above average shot.
I didn't get to see a whole ton of Hall before the Devils traded for him. All I really knew was the reputation as being an elite forward.
I was hoping to replace Kovy, and Hall isn't Kovy by a long shot. Kovy was absolutely dominant. Big, strong, fast, smart and had one of the best shots I've seen in my life.
In fairness to Hall, all of the LW ahead of him have good playmaking centers, the Devils don't.
He's not Kovy by a long shot, but is he the most talented forward on the Devils? Easily.
It's going to be interesting to see him as some of the young forwards, like McLeod and Zacha progress and if we get some halfway decent puck movers on the back end. |

Kovy is my 2nd favourite russian to ever play in the chel. He had everything and he played a stupid amount of minutes per game. |

Damn straight Mr. Bobby.
This is the part those "advanced stat" morons forget about. Build Hall up because he "drives possession" and "generates shot attempts" all while failing to realize that if you actually spend time watching the game as opposed to the limited highlights they see, that ya miss how his game can result in a lot of scoring chances for the opposition.
But when you don't like a trade you just take stats out of context to try and make it look like a bad one.....well who is laughing now? I'll give ya all a hint. His initials are the same as the name of the device I am writing on. |

What I appreciate most about him is how much he defied the model of the stereotypical Russian forward (at least in his later years). I always appreciated his game and would love to see him come back to the league like Jagr did. |

Valeri Kamensky is one of my favourite russians of all time. That boy was money in NHL95
Forsberg Kamensky and Palffy (traded for him every season) was the best line of all time
But I do love Kovy. I think the guy is all world. Jagr came back and was sexy. Radulov cam back and was sexy. I wont be shocked to see him come back and do the same thing |

Not to disrespect Zajac ....but he is not good enough to Center a guy like Hall.
Hall and Duchene are the same story in my mind. They have all world talent but have been surrounded by sludge for 90% of their NHL career so they are programmed to just try to be one man wrecking crews with their speed...however when they have junk for line mantes it doesnt matter what they do, its 1 vs 3 every time they enter the zone.
I hope the Devils get one of the Top Cs in this draft. Hall deserves to be playing with a puck distributing C who can keep up with his speed |
