It was a blatant slash that ended in an ugly injury. It may only be a finger, but I had a thumb slammed in a van door once, that was agony for 7 straight days. So, I feel for Methot, I'm sure it's hurting bad right now. And, yes it may be a bit more of a deal because it's Crosby, but that's only because the guy seems to be doing something dirty all the time now, virtually every game, and to not be assets any penalties--EVER!!--has got people justifiably pissed about how the league is run. Next thing you know, they'll be handing the Cup to teams that they want to win... cough... cough...

Nah, they blocked the nerve and gave him a handful of Oxy to help. He might not be able to use his hand, but I doubt it's hurting him too much right now. Rehab on the other hand will hurt like a mother(frank)er.

And once again Gerbe way overestimates how often something like this happens, this time a two-hander overhander of that magnitude happen to a guy's hand. You see little slashes all the time, but not ones like that. And there was outrage when Gaudreau's finger was broken by some anonymous Wild player, so there is precedent to be upset about this.

Quick had a pretty good year for the Rams a couple seasons ago, but was shortened by injury. His average catch is double digit yards. He's big and strong, but just never lived up to potential. Was decent last year I think they said he had 40+ catches for them.

Nothing spectacular, but not a nothing guy either.

He's got the same stats as Holmes same size, same speed.... we already have this guy.

Rams, that rings a very vague bell. I think I may have picked him up for a week last year as a bye week/injury fill in. Maybe, but I also picked up Britt, and I don't see picking up 2 Rams in one season.

true.
Although i have met plenty of fans of other sports who think hockey is "too violent."
I think it looks like slapshot to a lot of people.

I watched some video on YT last night that was about a league in the Midwest/South and it was basically Slap Shot.

It came on after some other video and I just let it run in the background. Basically it follows like 4 enforcers through a season. One guy got in 44 fights in one season. And I'm not even sure they played 44 games.

Being as objective as I can. I think Risto probably should have got 1 game.(Don't know if he has a history, if he doesn't should have been a fine)

There was no targeting of the head. No intent to injure. He literally used his ass to check him in the stomach. The only thing he did wrong was continue through with the hit when the puck wasn't there. If the puck was there, everyone would be talking about what a great hit it was.

- mdw7413

He doesn't really, before the Pittsburgh game he had 29 PIMS. And he plays 27 minutes a night, so the opportunity is certainly there. He's got 109 PIMS in 268 games. And they're mostly because of his size. His one fight was this:

Better than Kasdorf, I'll take it. Thanks mhp

You're welcome. It seems a bit odd for a 3rd Rd pick to sign an ATO. Why not sign your elc and still go to Rochester.

I think this way the ELC doesnt kick in till next season? If they had done it now they'd burn one year.

I remember him because 2 years ago I picked him up, professed him to the league to be the "waiver claim of the year" and he got hurt like 2 weeks later.

I agree. I think Holmes is the better player. Neither are anything particularly special though.

I would think burning one year of his ELC probably isn't a big deal in Johansson's case. You might be right though they might want to see how he does before he signs his ELC.

Well. I've never had a finger tip sliced off, but I have had the toenail on my big toe ripped clean off and I can tell you that no amount of painkillers made that mother(frank)er NOT hurt.

FFS, the thing STILL hurts and is tender to the touch. It hurts just to wear shoes all day, even if they're a little big/fit.

So I'm gonna have to say it probably hurts more now than when it first happened, since the adrenaline and what-not.

Did you have your nerve blocked?

I've had my knee taken apart and put back together(cut both tendons that connect to knee cap, cut part of knee cap off, drilled holes in knee cap, and tied the parts of the tendon they cut that were attached to the part of the knee cap they cut off, in a knot through the holes so it would heal back to the bone) and went home the same day, and couldn't even feel my leg for the first day and a half. After that? My God the pain, but until that nerve block wore off it didn't hurt unless I tried to move wrong.

This guy was a 2nd overall pick:

http://www.hockey-referen.../players/v/vanrija01.html

Look at his numbers his first 2 years. How did he ever survive? It wasn't until year 4 that he finally found his groove.

I could handle getting punched in the face for the NHL league minimum for a living.
But these guys way down the totem pole are probably getting paid peanuts and spending it all on steroids.

it might be for control reasons. Soon as he hits RFA he may just go back to europe if hes not liking things.

I laughed my ass off when one of the guys said he was 20 years old and that he could still make it to the NHL to be an enforcer. He looked about 35.

I'm not sure when it was shot, it seems like late 90's early 00's based on the "fashion". So maybe he could've, but if it was shot anytime in the last 10 years, WTF is that dude smoking?

It's a bit odd though. Maybe it's just a hedge for Petersen and expansion. If Murray wants Vegas(I really hate that they're not "Las" Vegas) to take Ullmark and makes the trade to make that happen. Then he'll have more than enough room for everyone, or if he doesn't sign Nilsson, or some other goalie as the backup in Buffalo, then Ullmark moves up, and Petersen and Johansson duke it out in Rochester.

i would suspect the latter to be true. If anything i wouldnt want them to take ullmark so theyd have to choose between suck and suckier.

For those who care, Florentino's college career is now over and can sign with the sabres. If he wants to or if they want to i mean.

Asplund's season is done as well and they seemed pretty high on him. Wouldnt surprise me if he got an ELC offer as well.

Just a gut feeling but I think Asplund will sign his ELC. I'm not as confident about Florentino. Petersen is anybody's guess although I was encouraged to read that he has a good relationship with Andrew Allen, Sabres goalie coach.

Think so? Already?

Even good Scandinavian players stay a few years. I mean Armia stayed, what? 4?
