that seems to be the tradeoff so far. My argument would be that this style is more optimal right now even with risto because while we dont have the D core to really make it work well, most of the forwards excel in this sort of strategy far more than the other.

Having said that, I dont know how Ristolainen would be able to sustain playing that kind of hockey for 27 mins a night/82 games a year. Quite the dilemma

Perhaps, but I also don't see this defense as able to do this over the course of a long period of time, with or without Ristolainen.
