perhaps, opinions vary on the difficulty of this task though, and whether murray can do it. Hence the hysteria. - Sabresfan-365
It all depends on the teams around them as well.
Boston is still good.
Tampa isn't going anywhere but up
Florida had an off year
I think Ottawa stays where they are
Toronto will be pretty good.
IMO Montreal can fall off a cliff
I don't think it's as simple as getting a guy, it's keeping pace with other teams that improve as well. |

If he adds a " gift " to a deal, he can move any of the 3 if he tried but, we have to be careful what picks or young players we ship out. |

So, I'm not sure if it was mentioned or if it kind of flew under the radar, but Johansson signed his ELC and started the game on Saturday in Rochester. The blurb in the Buffalo News mentioned that he's expected to be the starter next year in Rochester.
So that tells me they either expect to lose Ullmark in the Expansion draft, or that's the "deal" that Murray has with McPhee because of the "favor" Murray did for him like 2 years ago in taking Klesla in the trade with Washington and Ullmark will be the backup here next year. - HonkFortheGoose
I was told Johansson stunk over the weekend, and his decent stats when he went up a level of play meant nothing
I think with Ullmark, and Johansson
we will be fine for a backup for the sabres and rochester even if we lose Petersen
but they will need to draft a goalie in the next 2 drafts, Murray only drafted 1 in 3 years here

They'll naturally get better and keep pace because of eichel. Adding the top 4 dman has a wide effect on the rest of the team as well. You're lowering risto's ice time/responsibility, youve added a second threat from the blueline, more breakout passes etc.
Im not saying it makes you an instant contender, ive basically just tempered expectations. Unless two or more of the teams mentioned lands a superstar this summer its likely that they'll be able to keep up with that kind of addition. |

you sound like gerbe. We said that his stats in the 2nd best swedish league dont really suggest a superstar is coming over.
He gave up 4 goals on saturday. Maybe hes good maybe hes not but nothing there suggests we've found the goalie of the future in him. |

Murray has had 3 plus years as a GM here
pretty much had all the tools a gm could ever want
give him a realistic grade for the 3 years
I give him a D for results
C+ if you take into account out prospects |

F is realistic. He set a high bar (although whether he set this or pegula did is up for debate) and failed.
You do this and in 9/10 jobs your ass is fired by the end of year 4. |

While I agree, it will be minimal. I said before the year, Eichel will be who he is by the end of this year, like most superstars. They are who they are young. **No that doesn't mean he's peaked**
All the moves Murray has made stunted this teams natural growth curve. We know what a lot of this roster is capable of. At least the big pieces |

Until he gets to play in Rochester for awhile, I'm going to reserve judgement on him. It tends to take the guys that come over from Europe a bit of time to adjust to the smaller rink and the speed of the game. He got a W, and considering that the team there isn't super great, I'll take it as a plus, even if the score was 5-4. |

the trash talk Johansson was getting saturday was pretty much the same Ullmark was getting 3 years ago from the mob with fire and pitch forks
blah stats but the d on his team was really crappy at best
I think Ullmark is doing just fine with the mess in rochester and deserves the back up job with the sabres this fall, if not drafted from vegas |
