No one here is assuming that at all. It was mentioned that some of the MSM have said he might play next year.
You think Vegas is targeting Biega
When we had a healthy D group this year Stecher played in Utica and Tramkin stayed in the press box.
It is very possible Vegas take Miller and then we have 8 Dmen without OJ
If you look ar the RHD you have an overload . - VANTEL
Where did I say they were targeting him? jesus man
I said they're going to expose him. They probably don't value him as some guy who needs to be in the NHL lineup/roster. Basically he's irrelevant in this discussion.
7 dmen is pretty standard to have for teams. Biega/random AHL'er as the #8 guy with prospects like OJ/Subban/Briebois in camp. Nothing there that screams "they have to move someone!"
I don't see this as some sort of an overload. It's actually a pretty mediocre group unless the young guys take another step forward and/or Gudbranson plays better than he did. An overload is more like this:
Hamhuis
Salo
Bieksa
Edler
Ehrhoff
Ballard
Rome

Any that are smart think he sucks
I don't see any way he plays for the flames again - Redmile247
Sorry to say Shink just doesn't get it nor he is motivated to be NHLer |

Poirier did look pretty promising at one point, his AHL numbers during his first year were pretty damn good after a solid junior career. Better than fans who start slotting in guys who haven't even played a single AHL game, let alone NHL game. - Nucker101
Yeah I think he was an all star when it was in Utica ... not sure what happened to him ...even carrer AHLers usually keep putting numbers up there |

He has really taken a step back. I agree, with the Flames young forward depth he is likely done |

I never thought much of him tbh

Management should learn from JV ...only keep OJ if he's ready - Redmile247
Same can be said for BB. Just because he's on the team today doesn't mean I expect him to be there all of next year. I have no problem with OJ, JV, BB, TD, even Goldy spending most of next year in the AHL to develop and earn their NHL ice time; as a reward for doing what the bosses ask (attitude, conditioning, defensive responsibilities etc..) when injuries occur to the top guys. I wouldn't keep any of them around to play bottom six minutes because I firmly believe that 18-20 mins a night in Utica is way the fcuk more valuable than 10-12 mins a night in Vancouver. Sure, give them a taste now that the season is over, but do it so they know how much sweeter it is to be a Canuck than a Comet. Go out and sign 3 more Shatpoos, Megans and Skillies to fill out the NHL roster and let the process happen. You can't rush time. One of the many reasons Auston Matthews is so good is that he's one of the biggest body on the ice. You can't teach size and you can't turn a 180 pound teenager into a 200 plus pound man in one offseason.
We need to do this the right way. Everyone keep your baby boners in your pants and be patient, we're on the right track.

Stetcher was short, but he was stocky for his size. I agree that he has more skill than some of the dman on the team right now, but people act like he's dominating the OHL and going back another year will ruin him.
The only thing that could ruin him is getting manhandled by grown men on a nightly basis.
I'm all for Europe or the OHL again unless he forces his way onto the team by really earning it and showing he can handle playing against bigger bodies. - Nucker101
I've seen him play numerous times this season. He's put on nearly 10lbs this year, and is not getting manhandled by any means in JR. I don't now if you've noticed or not, but theres a ton of massive players in the OHL. He has complete control of the game, and physically i've seen him throw other guys around and he handles himself just fine. His biggest asset is his on ice awareness/hockey IQ, it allows him to avoid a ton of hits and break out of his zone quickly. Sure he can put on another 5-10lbs but theres nothing left for him in JR, sending him back to is a waste of everyones time. Maybe playing in Europe, but i highly doubt he wants to do that. The Kids ready, its as simple as that. |

I guess we watched different games, I've seen teams cycle the puck against him with ease at times and also overpower him in front of the net, in pretty much 80% of the games i've watched. Yes the OHL has bog boys, but it's not nearly the same as the NHL.
I agree that mentally and skill-wise, he's ready.
I'm still amazed that a large chunk of people think he's such a dominant force in the OHL and that sending him back is blasphemy |

I can say the same about Virtanen. There's a couple of these videos floating around YouTube from his less impressive games.

Yeah, I remember watching this when it got uploaded. Way too much floating and didn't look good offensively at all. He's had more good games than bad recently(by his standards) so hopefully he's trending upward. |

JV has more time before making a premature call.
His game has more to offer than anything Shink can offer.
Still JV could bust out & maybe only end up a 3/4th liner.
Shink is not top 6 hence an AHLer lifer type |
