Agreed.
Did you find it was the defense not making a good pass/finding the open man or was it still the forwards standing still or skating into a check?
With both Hansen and Burrows gone we have no one left that knows how to chip puck out or get into an opening. The wrong mentors appear to be left remaining.

The unit as a whole just didn't seem to be on the right page. A lot of cross ice passes that were behind the player. An insane amount of plays where the D would ring it around the boards and the winger would tip it into the middle but the Center was never there or picked off.

The best ones were where the forwards cleared out and Hutton, Tryamkin would skate it out. Very indecisive over whether to skate to the red line and dump it in or pass it off.

Just a lot of poor breakouts which lead to minutes where WPG would get 5 or more shots.

I was impressed the both Daniel and Henrik on the bench were doing a lot of talking with the younger players. Tryamkin and Henrik had numerous conversations throughout the game. Shore was talking to Goldy.

The tipping into the middle of ice when defense sends it around boards always scares me. That is a pee-wee move, that used to be taught never to do.
Pretty bad when you are relying on 2 rookies & a 2nd year defenseman (Stecher, Tryamkin & Hutton) too be your breakout play.

Forwards need to be stronger on the boards. With experience they will learn when that can be done and to just chip it up the boards.

He's stocky compared to OJ, which was the point. It's too bad you're too consumed with arguing that you missed it.

6'3" 180 lbs

5'10" 190 lbs

It's not rocket science, OJ is a skinny kid. Chances that he plays in the NHL next year are almost as slim as he is.

- golfingsince

Its also not rocket science to do a bit of research and look up the fact that he's gained 10lbs and is nearly up to 190 now. And who's to say he cant gain another 5 over the summer? This kids hockey IQ is through the roof, plus he's a puck mover, you think his weight is gonna keep him from getting to the NHL? Tell that to Doughty, Leetch, Karlsson, Lidstrom.

He was kept in JR for another year to get stronger and gain experience, he's done both. The only "slim chances" are that you think you know what you're talking about.

The league will announce in 2021 that in an effort to stop all hooligan ism in the nhl, all penalties will result in game misconduct. No players will be required to sit in the sin bin for the infraction, eliminating the need for the penalty box, which will allow for more seating for some lucky fans viewing enjoyment.
The powerplay will, as a result, become non-existent.

Doughty weighed 230lbs in junior, Lidstrom joined the NHL at 21 years old, Leetch was 2 inches shorter but the same weight. As for Karlsson, he was elite offensively and poor defensively when he entered the league.

The big knock on Karlsson entering the league was his weight.

I think he will be given at least his 9 games. May not be the first 9 games though. Maybe he will get to play in the World Championships too.

Things shaping up nicely, Detroit and Dallas climbed up the standings a bit last night and NJ got a point. It looks as though it's a fight for third last odds.

The team looked tired and uninspired last night. The Sedins looked patheticly slow

So since JR Doughty has lost 35lbs?? Nope.

I thought we were talking about weight, not age and height? THe examples of those three guys are simply pointing out their weight - I can pick three others if that helps you stay focussed on the topic?

The point is that OJ plays a similar game to those guys - he's a positional defenseman, and his hockey IQ is what has earned him his success.

He entered camp two years ago at 213, he played at 230 in junior.

So far in his life, Doughty has stepped up when need be. As a star defenseman with the OHL’s Guelph Storm, he was the top defensive prospect for the 2008 NHL draft, ranking only behind center Steven Stamkos overall. But at 6-foot-1 and 230 pounds, there was one nagging question: his conditioning.

I was thinking, If the NHL really wants to eliminate tanking then each team should get the same odds.

Is it that hard to understand that a guy who's 6'3" and 190 lbs is so much skinnier than a guy who's 5'10" and weighs the same?
