So we can complain about him "embarrassing" Reinhart for 40 minutes, instead of 60?
People would have had a problem if he played him after breaking a team rule.
...unless it's Evander Kane. Then anything that happens is minimalized to the degree of rules don't matter - sbroads24
you have a problem with everything this team does, I don't know how your a fan. |

Benching is one thing but not making him dress and sit on the bench. Make mistakes during the game and I can see it but not dressing and just sitting there. - SABRES 89

The benching is ridiculous and I agree with others that it was wrong but they have to dress 18 skaters it's in the CBA. They had no choice but to dress him otherwise they would have been in violation of the CBA.
The right thing to do would have been to play Reinhart, kept it in-house and found some other suitable punishment, maybe scratch him for Sunday's game. The discord with Disco and the players is reaching the boiling point imo. |

The Bruins once dressed and sat Cam Neely and Kevin Stevens in the same game because they thought they were playing poorly. If Cam Neely can sit on the bench and overcome it, then I hope Sam can do the same. |

if the sabres lost a few men up front early in the game, I wonder if Sam would have stayed on the bench |

Ryan Wilson wrote a great blog on the NHL Concussion suit. NHL is screwed in this one, IMO. |

good point, probably not. Which makes this whole situation last night even more of a cluster (frank).
Just fire Disco and hire David Quinn. If Bylsma comes back next year it could be the biggest mistake Murray makes. |

If the team rule says you don't play, then playing him the last half of the third period breaks the rules. - Der Kaiser
I doubt the rule is that you have to sit on the bench the entire game. The rule is that you get sat. So the Sabres are enforcing the rules by bending their own rules for punishment. There's an irony here that seems lost on Bylsma |

I'm guessing since Murray is taking onus for the construction of the team, that's a good conclusion.
Bylsma can only do so much. |

That's probably right. But what if we're .500? Do they make a switch? He's perceived as a lame duck now anyway. I think this event will go down as his Ron Rolston garden gloves moment |

From Elliott Friedman's "30 thoughts" last week...
2. The NHL’s top two scorers since Feb. 1 are Tampa’s Nikita Kucherov (36 points) and Buffalo’s Jack Eichel (34). Maybe that’s not a coincidence.
“He is probably my favourite player in the league,” Eichel said of Kucherov during a conversation last Friday. “The subtle plays he makes. One thing he does really well is shoot through a screen. He can pick a small corner through both the screener and the goalie and put it there. That’s something I’d like to do, too.”
*i REALLY wish we offersheeted Kucherov
Yeah, yeah... it's too lat now, I know
But imagining him & Eichel on the same line...?
That would've been amazing |

The big question is if Sam still got a participation trophy for sitting on the bench, because you can't hurt anyone's feelings nowadays. |

its less about the record and more about where they are. Even if they're above 500 (the fake nhl one) if hes not in playoff spot in thanksgiving hes gone imo. |

Yeah, most likely
MAYBE just the threat would've been enough to get them to work out a trade with us?
It's all probably wishful thinking...
but at the very least it would've Fd up their Cap
And they've gotta sign Drouin this summer, among others |

At one point last night, Jack had Delo and Gionta as his wingers. I wonder what Jack's perception is of his roomy getting humiliated last night in Columbus...

If he's transitioning into a leader, he understands why it happened and tells Sam to not miss a meeting again. |

Is it good for morale, does it look good to other teams and was it the only -or most successful - way too get your point across? I would say no, so it has nothing to do with hurting anyone's feelings. I think it was an unnecessary Richard move keeping him on the bench. To say there were no other options is silly. It would have been a nice gesture to put him out there as the extra attacker. That's how you motivate and inspire guys instead of killing morale |
