It can be argued both ways I think. But in this case, I think they needed to look at intent, and to be quite honest, I don't think he had any idea that the puck was there or that he's the reason it went in until well afterwards. I think it should have counted, but I can see why they called it back.

It's like a triple bluff. He does it on purpose, knowing it looks like an accident, knowing that it's illegal to kick the puck in, but hoping for a break.
