Thank you. It would be too big of a coincidence to believe.
Konecny is listed at 5’10”, 175 pounds / Weal at 5'10" 179 pounds. Weal was called up 3 or 4 days after Konecny was announced to miss 4-6 weeks. Both small skilled wingers.
And who knows? Weal may have not even gotten the call if Taylor Leier wasn't hurt at the time. Leier got the earlier call up when Read was hurt. - JFlyers00
I think it's a fair assessment that Weal was called up due to injury. Players are sometimes given an opportunity due to an injury for a call up, and Weal to his credit is taking advantage of. We cannot know if Weal would've been called up on merit at some point even if there wasn't an injury. Leier did not impress me when he was called up, as Weal has. |

I don't hold Raffl and PEB responsible for this teams disappointing season. I just don't think either guy is irreplaceable. To play in the NHL you have to be very talented....but there are levels of talent. To me both guys are simply average to below average players..... thus replaceable. - landros 2
I don't believe that either is irreplaceable either. Very few players reach that standard. I do however think they're both good depth forwards who add value to the team. Now and moving forward. |

We're in agreement there. Too many games where the team lacks jump, and that has been going on for a significant time under different coaches. - MJL
and my point is Hextall needs to address this....I think he can with out deviating from the master part of his plan which is to grow through the draft and build a solid farm system that will provide the flyers future players for years to come. I'm hoping he can chew gum and walk at the same time.

I can't single out one player for something that is on a unit.
I could point out our goalies don't make enough saves or our defenseman fail to clear the puck enough to as things that hurt the PK. - J35Bacher
Wow, some common sense shown. Doesn't fit in with the narrative though. |

Brilliant. Picked apart perfectly while not answering the question of what role does VDV play?
You got me, correction VDV is a borderline nhl plugger who was cut by a cellar dwelling EDM team, loved by Berube and then caught a break that his old college coach came in...

I would be elated if Raffl was taken in the expansion draft. It would free up 2.3+ mil in cap space and in my opinion Raffl does not produce to that level anymore. There are plenty of depth players out there who will do what he does in my opinion.

I view Raffl as the best of the Flyers depth forwards. When he is on the ice, he is able to control and dictate the play to a degree. The Flyers tend to have the puck more when he is on the ice. I think his level of production offensively is dependent on who he plays with. If he plays with players who can create good offensive chances, he can produce offensively. I think Raffl can be a strong 3rd line winger on a top team. I think the better the team around him is, the better he will be. The question is will he still be that player when this team gets to that point? |

I agree with what your dishing. Only 2 questions. 1. Will he be used as a 3rd line winger or will he be put back up with Giroux. 2. Is being a very good 3rd liner worth 2.3 million.
A.Most Likely
A.Not Really, but maybe. |

He was a good find over in Europe when they found him, but I'd be over it quickly if he got picked in the expansion draft. |
