But why? It's a 45 and I'm doing between 55 and 60. Why do you NEED to go faster? Why such the rush? I just don't get it. - jmatchett383
Need? I dont know if it is necessarily a need all the time. I can tell you that given the choice between being stuck behind someone and not being stuck behind someone, I will choose not being stuck behind someone |

So I'm still having a hard time understanding the goalie situation. They sign Neuvy to an extension and not Mason, but since that point having been riding Mason. What are the thoughts on their plan with Mason. Is it see ya later because he wanted longer term and more money, but the team wants one of the young guys up in a year or two? |

The general consensus is that Hextall hasn't talked with Mason's people about an extension. They signed Neuvirth (I am hoping) to expose in the expansion draft. The rest will work itself out. I certainly havent read anything that suggests Mason is asking for something the Flyers arent willing to offer, and wouldn't expect him to get any big term or AAV |

I think if Mason does not return it would be a mistake. Unless they have a grander plan via FA. |

See, that's the thing. Why do you need to be in front of me, especially on a residential/non-highway road? You might save maybe 1-2 minutes if you happen to catch a light or 2 that you wouldn't behind me.
Why do people feel required to break the law? If you come to a red light and no one's coming, do you just say F it and go?
Keep in mind, you were the person who had their morning "ruined" (not inconvenienced, "ruined") by someone obeying the speed limit.
Edit: Every day, I drive 80 miles round trip to work and I see multiple accidents and near-accidents every day mostly due to someone who was impatient and couldn't wait to race around a person in front of them in the race to be in front. Why is that so important to people? Is it really that awful to not be in front of people and be "forced" to not excessively break the law? |

Money is one thing, but based on historical and recent data, Mason is a better goalie than Neuvirth. |

It's a 2-lane road with a narrow shoulder. There is no move over unless I want to pull into a parking lot. - jmatchett383
Yeah, that's not happening either. lol |

The important part of the whole goalie thing is that I dont think you can look at it right now and see where they are going necessarily. There are specific rules they need to follow this offseason that make it unique. That is all you can really go off of at this point |

If Vegas doesn't pick Neuvirth, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they then sign Mason for 3 years and just roll with those two until one of the Phantoms is ready. |

Another good one: My road is a 35, and there's a lot of kids under 10 (including my daughter). I'm on it for 1.1 miles, and I'm doing 35, not a mile over. About a year ago, some dude just could not handle that. Rode my ass the whole way, lights flashing, leaning on his horn. I didn't care. I finally turn into my driveway, he rolls down the passenger side window to give me the middle finger and curse me out.
At this point, I jump out of my car ready to pound the poop out of this dude. As soon as I get out and start coming towards him, he peels out and races down the road (losing control and swerving).
(frank) people. I guess I'm the bumhole for obeying the speed limit on a road that has a lot of young children on it. |

Sometimes I think that but then I think why? Will there be a better option out there? They're not going to be much better next year than this year, so why spend big bucks to bring in a marginally better goalie? No elite goalies will be on the market this summer and even if one were, it'd be a waste of money to bring him here. |

They probably want to protect Stolarz and not sign Mason till after the ED, if they want to sign him at all. |

I'm assuming that Stolarz will be the protected one, but I'm not sold that it's because they want to bring him up next year; I think it's because they don't want to lose him for the future. |

I think they can tolerate him as a back up and now that he's signed they can expose him to Las Vegas. No skin off their nose if he gets selected and if he stays it's in a back up role.
Course I'm not floored by the FA selection on goalies. People would lose their poop if Flower came here. But I think they are seriously shopping both FA and possible trades for a goalie. Just my unedumecated opinion. |

I agree, but if LV doesn't take Neuvirth, then they'd still be blocking Stolarz. If they don't want to bring him up for another 2 years, there may not be a big point in protecting him. |

I can't speak for them, and I am a pretty safe driver, regardless of what I think about speed limits. I do go through red lights too. Some of it is being late, some of it is having better things to do, and some of it is just being mad at inefficiencies in roads/traffic patterns. I don't want to crash and/or die, and I don't want someone else to crash and/or die. So if I feel like the situation isn't safe I will lay off. A lot of what you are saying comes down to the assumption that everyone is driving somewhere to get from point A to point B. It means more to people sometimes. It also sounds like an assumption that an accident is always caused by someone who wanted to be in front of someone driving the speed limit.
My morning was ruined the same way your Flyers game would be ruined if someone stood in front of you all game. I like to drive and there are certain roads that are more fun than others. I look forward to getting to them and its a bummer when someone that has no reason to care about that winds up in front of me right before I get there. |

Who's he backing up? Why not sign Mason, the better goalie, as the back up (money may be the reason, but I can't see a huge divide). |

Money is part of it - definitely. Mason may also not want the back-up role. And I'm not entirely convinced that the relationship between him and the Flyers brass is all spun sugar and rainbows. Could he be back - sure. But I'd be a touch surprised and I have no doubt that we are kicking tires on trade deals. |
