Go away. It pains me to say, but I am glad Toronto is no longer the joke of the NHL. I watched last nights game and I have determined I hate your face.

I don't blame you for being jealous.

I'm glad you can figure out who I am by one sentence. Here's further explanation for you to avoid assuming. If konency figures to be a top 6 forward, wouldn't it make sense to leave him the top 6 and learn from his mistakes like Provorov has done all year. Once they decided not to send Konecny back to Junior, would it not have been more beneficial to leave him in the top 6 all year especially considering Hexy himself considered this a marginal playoff team? I thought player development was about putting prospects in roles they are expected to play going forward. Did the way konency was handled going to hurt him long term? Probably not. I'm just questioning the path of player development.

Maybe the hard core fans has no reservations about some of the personel decisions made this season. I guess only the casual fan.

The kid has learned a variety of situations and placement all of which will benefit him in becoming a complete player. He is in top 20 rookie scoring and would be higher if people around him could finish at higher then rate then under 8 shooting %

Exactly my point. You do not force a player in a role you want him to be as a 19 year old, it's the worst way to develop a player. If being placed on the 4th line ruins Konecny, he was never destined to be an NHL player anyway.

Giroux wasn't forced into the top 6, neither was Carter, Richards, Gagne, Tocchet and on and on. Obviously not in the same exact category, but McDavid wasn't even the 1C his first year until later in the season.

Take Leon Draisaitl for example, he had his ups and downs the first couple years. The point is most of the players I have been naming are considered more talented than Konecny and you expect more from him?

Care to elaborate what this means?
- MBFlyerfan

It means in order to not metaphorically become Konecny, he's going to have to become a better player earlier in this career, as compared to Konecny at this point in his own career.

Yeah, at 19 Vecchione was playing with Tri-City in the USHL.

I'm not sure I see the parallel.

What I expect is once the decision was made that he was a special prospect that would benefit more from being in the pros then playing another year in junior is yes stay in the top 6 all year. Learn from his mistakes in that role. It isn't about points, but rather learning by doing. Why wasn't Konecny allowed to take his normal shift in the 3rd period of a 1 goal game on a marginal playoff team? Was he learning more by sitting on the bench as a vet who won't be on the roster in two years get that responsibility.

I get every prospect is different. Obviously by making the roster, Konency was viewed as special by the organization . I don't think it is out of line to have wanted to see him in that role in all situations.

Agreed. I'm often critical of this team and it's decisions. Sometimes I'm harsh, other times I'm flat out wrong. On the flip side of the coin, some fans blindly defend this team like they have the golden touch. If this were the case, we would have won multiple Cups since the 70's. Wrong or right, I try to provide a different perspective. Some people hate this.

Yup if Boston picks up a point or the Flyers lose a point, it's lottery time.
- BiggE

I don't think this is true. Flyers can end the season with 92 points if they win their remaining 4 games. Leafs and Sens currently have 91 points. If either lost all their remaining games in regulation they would finish with 91 if I'm not mistaken.

All semantics, this team has been dead in the water for over a month.

Than they can lose rest of the games to avoid the dreaded 9th place.

I'd like to see the last 4 started by Stolarz. He's played the equivalent of 4 games and has really played terrific.
After what happened to Nuevirth last evening it probably becomes more likely Las Vegas does not take him. Flyers may be stuck with him. Which would be unfortunate.

I'm really never in favor of tanking. You can't expect prideful professional athletes to go out on the ice and half ass it and not try and win games. It's frustrating they didn't play at this level when the playoffs were still a possibility. It is what it is. They will probably pick somewhere in the #10-12 range. Should be able to get a pretty solid prospect.

I just think it is fair to question some of the decisions. If hexy wanted to sign a goalie to not expose Stollie, would it not have made sense to get him in a few more games earlier? Especially when both guys ahead of him have struggled and Stollie has been very good in each game with the flyers. It's not like the Phantoms do a ton of back checking, not sure many goalies are going to have great stats there. Just some odd decisions, IMO

My issue with signing Neuvirth and possibly losing Mason is, we could have potentially had two starters next season in Mason and Stolarz. Stolarz has been very good every time he's been call upon. Mason is a starter. Neuvirth isn't.

Not sure why they had to give Nuevirth a two year deal. He's never shown the ability to be a full time starter, and he's always injured. I understand they had to expose a goaltender to the expansion draft. I don't see LV taking him.
