You guys like Eichel, we like Matthews. Both are among the brightest young stars in the league. The rivalry will go on for years. We should probably just cheer for our respective teams and leave it at that.

Yes. We should cheer for our possibly 40 goal/70 point rookie, leading us to the playoffs, and they should cheer for Eichel, who I'm sure had similar success in his rookie year.

Matthews hasn't proven he can do what Eichel has done yet in terms of consistency. His rookie year has been nice and all but it helps playing on a well coached team where the young stars are allowed to shine

Marcus Foligno for one. Reinhart a lot. Kane for a couple games. Moulson for a few. Pretty much everyone on the team, like I'm sure at one point Matthews has played with everyone on the Leafs. But Foligno has spent most of the season on Jack's LW. Gionta has played on his right side. Other than Reinhart, he hasn't had anyone good for more than 2 or 3 games.

So, you're saying it's unfair to compare Matthews rookie season to Panarin's because Panarin had Kane on his wing. But, you have no problem comparing Matthews rookie season to Eichel's when Eichel played with Gionta on his wing all last year. Right, Leaf logic... got it.
