I dont think they have any power over him trading picks out right. Prob have alot more say if considering moving down/up tho because they would be evaluating the trade up/down based on their ranking system. that's my guess

I'd imagine he's mostly in control of trades. If one of the scouts thinks that someone higher up is a hidden gem, I'm sure they can tell TM that they think that player is a good target. I just doubt they can say, "trade the X pick this year and Y player for Z return".

The strangest thing is that the biggest issue is STILL goaltending. I'm pretty sure they were one of a handful of teams with a sub .900 SV%.

Ghost and a couple others took a step back this year as well.

22nd in goals against, 20th in goals for. Probably a mixture of both. I read a long column about a month ago talking about how they had allowed like 3.5+ goals per game average over the previous 14 games. I'll try to find it.

Either way, can't be bottom half in goals for AND against.

With the lottery being of picks 1-3 instead of just the first pick, I'm really hoping for some luck this time around. There might not be a standout #1 but if you pick top 3, I'd bet you have a solid chance of selecting the best player in this draft class.

It doesn't have to matter at all. However from his comments and comments of others, it seems Murray had a list of guys he liked 4 years ago, and hasn't really deviated from it.

Just like the Kulikov deal. He made the comment after that he's loved his style since he was in Ottawa, yet it seems he ignored Kulikov's actual play over the time in-between.

Results seem to come secondary to Murray to his personal opinion of players.

I keep seeing expansion mock drafts with Brodin being left exposed. Anyone know why that is? Does Minnesota have cap issues that will force them to leave him unprotected? If so, how about we offer to give them back their 2nd round pick for him?
