a lot of people are worried about moving kane for a d-man because it creates another hole. This is one of many ways you could address that. Perhaps not everyones ideal scenario. - Sabresfan-365
It is impossible to make this statement any less definitive.
"Perhaps,"
"not everyone's"
"ideal scenario."
Why not just come out and say: "Definitely a bad idea." |

Slant/
I have never once said Kane isn't good enough for his current $$.
He also though, doesn't deserve a 1.5 million increase and a long term deal
Again, this is based on the premise we are adding a D man and have a hole to fill - sbroads24
I would be more open to signing Kane to a long term deal if Okposo and O'Reilly weren't already tied up already. Whether you subscribe to the notion that you can only sign six guys like Chicago or not, if you sign Kane, that's a lot of money sunk into O'Reilly, Okposo, and Kane, all of whom are closer to the "good" part of the scale than "great". And that doesn't even begin to talk about what Eichel gets in his next contract. It's one of the reasons I was never a fan of the Okposo deal in the first place. It's not a terrible deal, but I felt that you could lock up someone else better down the road. |

The hole that moving Kane would create is not nearly as big as people think it is. And it's easier filled than a defenseman. That being said, I'm still not sure Kane will net you one. |

Used to be a place called Masters Deli on the corner of Lake Avenue and Stutson Street that would sell beer to ANYBODY. We got beer there all the time when we were in 9th grade. One day, we decided to test a theory and brought my little brother there - he was in 5th grade and they sold the beer to him. it was like 1977.
We used to get 8 packs of FX Matts ponies - and head down to the train trestle over the river, drink up, and then grab some chow at the LDR Char Pit.

There are 30 players in the NHL with more goals than Kane this year.
Which one of those players above or right around him in goal production be available and at what price?
I agree with the notion that finding a top 3 defensemen is harder than finding a top 6 winger but a 27 goal scorer this year is not an easy find. |

Not directed at you, just this concept as a whole. If the general consensus is that it's easier to find a winger as a replacement then a D-man, why would any GM give up a D-man for a winger of similar quality? Sure, the expansion draft might play into this, but I can't imagine that there will be a shortage of teams that won't try and work their way into getting a quality D-man for something, basically still having it be a sellers market. That's if you subscribe to the theory that top-two D-men are only trumped by first line centers, which seems to be the thinking of most people, GM's most likely included. |

They probably wouldn't. But that's unfortunately the situation we are in.
That's why guys who have a high ceiling but maybe are slumping, or have fallen down the depth charts would be the targets.

Agreed.
Last year, and this year
Nash - 38 goals 74 points - 126 games
Kane - 47 goals - 76 points -131 games
Obviously Nash is aging, but again, it's a stop gap while Nylander or whomever develops while adding a D |

Wonder if NY would swap him for Ennis, save 3 and half mil about, and get a player back instead of dumping him for a 2nd or 3rd or whatever |

Sounds like a story my father would be able to relate to, he hung around the area quite a bit, being from Irondeqoit. Good stuff. |

I would be fine with an Ennis for Nash swap.
But giving up more assets (2nd round, or higher) for 1 year of Nash isn't ideal.
I am on board for getting Nash on the cheap |
