He wasn't a UFA two years ago, he was traded by the Blues to the Capitals. He was a UFA last year...there's not a chance in hell he would've signed here.
*** Check that....he's never been a UFA, he's still on the deal he signed with St. Louis. Which ends this year.
I guess that (frank)s your whole Oshie argument, sorry - LeftCoaster
Like always you miss the point and are quick to jump in.
The point of the story is to make timely moves so you are not employing a roster full of senior citizens .
Have competion for all spots and move players out in a more timely fashion

I agree with Don that if this takes 10 years then heads need to roll.
I think some moves Canucks should look at this summer are affordable and hopefully practical.
I think Tanev is a definite move . Don't let that NTC kick in . He could have the highest return.
Gudbrandson Yes I know I was the one that hoped he was a Canuck. I didn't know Tryamkin was going to be that type of player so quickly. I still do like EG and would be okay if he sticks around , but I also agree you can buy that type of game for much cheaper. Engelland comes to mind or Gryba .You should also get a very good return for EG.
Moving those two pieces can get you top 6 forwards .
I would go after Tyutin to replace Sbisa and he can be had at around 2-2.5
Edler Stecher
Tyutin Tryamkin
Hutton Engelland - VANTEL
Tyutin never sorry bud

Injuries r not an excuse with FLA.
Rowe idk if he makes sense.
Firing Gallant was strange.
The D is poor & Yandle is overpaid huge.
Overall it was a mess. - Nighthawk
When your only healthy player from the previous season is 100 year old Jagr, youre going to be in trouble. Barkov missed 1/4 of the season, Huberdeau 3/4, Bjugstad missed 1/3, which crippled their depth in the C position. Goaltending and the suspect coaching decision also played a part. It wasnt a pretty season but I fully expect them to bounce back and contend for a division title next season |

not a chance lol. Like the other guys had said, I think he signs for 6 mill somewhere over 4 or 5 years. |

I would still sign TJ Oshie in the offseason for 4.5-5 mill for 2 years. - Codes1087
He'll get more money than that or he'll stay in Washington for that discount price. Your valuation is low. |

I agree with you in principle, for sure, however, it's not as easy as you make it out to be. |

The market for trading d should be there, but I otherwise agree. I was amazed at what JB could find for Burrows though, maybe he can pull more like that.
Also, Devils win last night puts us in 3rd!

I think 2nd, hopefully one of us is right!
Also, in our current position it is extremely unlikely we pick 6th, far more likely we end up with 5 |

I would pay between 4.5-5 mill for him, cause I hate overpaying for UFA's, it never works out, especially when these older players want 6 years (lucic, Eriksson, even Kesler's deal).
If he were to sign for 2 years at 5.5 million (better deal IMO at first glance than Vrbata's of a few years ago) I would do it. Term is scarier with players over 30 more than $ in my opinion. |

Panthers are fine ...they had a terribly unlucky year with key injuries ... - Redmile247
And once they move on from Lou they'll be better. Rowe was still a train wreck though. |

It should not be hard for an organization to slot in a prospect or two that has been playing in the AHL for two or three years.
Move out the old guy when he STARTS to slow down and bring in the new guy |

which is why I said it wouldn't happen, and I wouldn't want to sign him. He isn't 23 years old, and his stats are completely inflated playing with Backstrom and Ovi. I think he still produces on a worse team, but he certainly has had tremendous linemates who are over inflating his next contract negotiation. |

The shootout ability can't be undervalued. The guy is a huge difference maker on a bubble team. 7 or more is my guess. |

No problem, I'm just here to help. The easiest way to not look silly is to assume Vancouver is an equal opportunity for all free agents of any kind and that there is not much difference between Vancouver's multi-million dollar offer and a similar offer from Washington/Pitt/Chicago/etc - WhiteLie
Trade anyone who isn't part of the future long term and sign free agents to replace them ...let the kids develop at their own pace ...but if they are ready play them
If you have to overpay to get someone do it via free agency and not trade
Plan to be bad for the next 4 years and then when kids come in and surprise it's a bonus and maybe you get better sooner |
