If Willie returns it won't be because he didn't try to get fired. It seems every time management said one he he would say another. Maybe each is tiring of the other. - edmontonxxbound
They wont be here for the success, just like Gillis took the credit for Burke's work, Gillis will take the credit for Benning's work when he's re-hired. - A_SteamingLombardi
so you say...your prediction is we won't make it back to the playoffs until 2023? If that's the case even I'd support Benning and Linden being fired - CanuckDon
I'll take ASL's stance even further.
If its 2013 to make the PO's fire them yesterday & start the management upheaval all over again. Then it will be 15yrs like the Oilers ๐๐
If you had an asset increase in value by $300,000,000 under the leadership of one guy wouldn't you go back to that guy to make it happen again? Aquaman is a good businessman but he's a poopty hockey team owner.

This year to year the PO's being a goal is bad business IMO
Longterm is more revenues & delaying it any further only exacerbates the problem.
The fans rule & if its status quo so will be the empty seats.
Rebuild it right & not 1/2 ass it.

Yup, my concern is what Aquilini will do with this team once it's rebuilt.
I still am convinced management will make a trade for a top 6, they know revenue will drop if they do nothing and that would cost their jobs. (Although thats how a rebuild works) my top guesses 1.E.Kane 2.Nugent-Hopkins 3.Galchenyuk (far fetched but were rumors) - phyllee
Nuge + 1st for Tanev + small? something like that could work.
I bet the sedins turn it around next year and back to 70 point players, they have lots of pride and there still skilled, lets face it, it has been a tough year injury wise.

That would be the worst thing that could happen . Put them to bed , don't wake them up
So i was reading this & the players comments.
1st off thwere is no provision I know of in the SPC for playing outside of the NHL when under contract. 2nd any player saying all the owners want is money when thats all they want as well. Lastly thinking its a right & not a privilege to play in Olympics & the risk the league is forced to take without compensation is outright stupidity.
The fans pay their contracts & if the IIHF & IOC & NHL & NHLPA cannot sort their crap out together its ALL 4 of them to share. Losing out on high profile growth of hockey is not about this pissing match but getting on board together earlier than at this juncture. The NHL is the only Pronsports league that has to disrupt their season for the Olympics & that is at the crux of the entire problem. This season with the condensed sched & B2B's has shown to be a bad idea & the Olympics also create the same issues. Money, Insurance etc is the only business side of it but anytine injuries happen in non NHL the fans suffer & we r what mattr most. So as fans does the Olympics need the full availability of NHLers no matter what the underlying issues r?
