1) Sam played with jack Last night (except when jack was double shifting)
2) It's a meaningless game and DL hasn't been on jacks line once this year
3) Bottom six played well last night

- yen6d1

I agree that it was a meaningless game. Sit DLO and Girgs and play Eichel with Smith and Nylander. Instead of experimenting in a fun way, Bylsma went the exact opposite way and played his best player with two grinders during the last home game of the year. I'm just so done with his decision making. Utterly ridiculous to play a guy with 2 assists 13 minutes in the last home game of the year

Bailey, ROR, Okposo
Foligno, Reinhart, player x
Smith/Carrier, E rod, Gionta

flush the rest down the drain

unless a lot of those kids work hard this summer, i think they're looking at another start in Rochester. including Smith.
I'd still rather play Girgensons somewhere over most f them.
I would like to see Reinhart at #3C. but not with 2 spare parts as wingers. I think for him to do well there, he would need at least a legit shooter on his RW. Foligno could be ok on his left.

I don't get the love for Carrier at all. He's another bland, non-producing forward. Gionta needs to be replaced by a stud PK vet IMO.
- jcragcrumple

It's way too soon to tell what Carrier's production level will be, but I understand why people like what they see so far. He's big, fast, tough, and at time can be creative with the puck. Many of these same attributes can also be seen in Bailey and Bap, but hopefully at least one will find the scoring touch next season.

Agree with all of those points, outside of defense i think 2 wingers that can produce how ennis and moulson should are a must for this summer
Edit: hope nylander can be one of those guys

If we want to contend eventually, Foligno has to be strictly 4th line. I wouldn't mind seeing Reinhart at 3C at some point. I think Smith- Reinhart - Pu could be a lot of fun to watch.

I really like Nylander, but this should've happened last year. I dont think theyll get the same value for their pick this year in a draft thats all over the place after 3.

Draft anyone whose first/last name starts with an M

Mittelstadt
Makar
Miro Heiskanen
Michael Rasmussen(only because watching RJ try to do this and Rasmus Ristolainen would be so worth it)
Martin Necas

Hmmm, from memory, that was not the song you and most others were singing leading up to the draft last year.

In fact, if I remember right, it was along the lines of if GMTM is stupid enough to trade the 8th pick for a D man, he should be out.

Or was that for Fowler only?

I would say Reinhart. McCabes woes are more recent and Lehner is well... Lehner. He's been consistent, not great.

to be a contender yes.

To challenge for a playoff spot, dont need as much to happen in one off season. I believe....in eichel. and on occasion ristolainen and o'reilly.

- Sabresfan-365

This is why we tanked, right?

I mean, that's why I'm overly critical of moves/players. They did this for a cup

I guess Jordan Parise (Zachs brother) was on the radio earlier. Said he talked to Okposos father in law and said he is on his way to recovery. So possible good news.

Idk 7 points in 40 games isn't good enough. If Carrier is on an opening night roster next year, it's another useless year IMO. Same goes for Gionta, Girgs, DLo and Moulson for me. This team needs a major shakeup, and we can't keep these players and expect to have a better season. We just don't have a good mix of players right now.

I know people like Gionta but honestly 35 points this year probably means 30 next year, and his PK skills aren't that good. If we're going to have a 30 point vet, he should be a stud on the PK

I recall most people here being against the #8 for Fowler, myself included. I'm also against trading any top 10 pick even though it might be what's best for the rebuild.

I'm confused. You say a guy who only has 7 points in 40 games is useless, but yet a guy with 30 points is also not worth having?

There is nothing wrong with either guy being on the 4th line next year.

How many points do you think players on the 4th line average?

The problem with the team is they need more high end talent, not that their supporting players are awful.

I agree that Carrier should spend more time in the AHL next season. He's still very young. I'm just saying don't give up on him yet, he is improving.

As for Gionta, I'm okay with him not being here next year. Same goes with Gorges. I know we need some vets, but I'd like to see more youth taking turns coming up. All of these guys should be shown at least some NHL time next season: Fashing, Bap, Bailey, Carrier, Nylander, Austin, ERod, Asplund, Pu, Nelson, Guhle, Borgen, Estephan
