Joe Thornton plays as soft as hank..... he had one more point than hank.
Is he holding the sharks back? Or is there enough depth to overcome the loss in points?

- Pres.cup

Joe Thornton doesn't throw snow when going into corners with a defenseman behind him.
Which by the way, is a trait the Sedin's seem to have passed on to Baertschi, Granlund and occasionally Bo.
Not good.

You never Know . He may want to give presidency over in Europe and in the Premier League to come coach these misfits? Where has that Yes We Can attitude gone?

So let me get this straight. The 'Country club' mentality comes from the Sedins who come into training camp every year in better shape than anyone and who both held one of the longest iron man records of any top line players ever despite getting the poop kicked out of them year after year?

Krueger is reportedly very happy being president of an English Premiere team.

Finally, about time those pom poms were put on the shelf...

I can remember a few of us posting back in Sept - Oct that the team was talent deficient and there were 3 lines of 3rd line talent and a bunch of 4th liners and AHL players. Man I can remember getting roasted, especially from Nuck4U, we were always one lucky bounce from league greatness.

If they can just stay healthy they are a bumble team ...maybe even a playoff team

I started the term County Club.

It is like the Code Red. You can chose to say it doesn't exist but would you be wrong.

You can't handle the truth.

Right now Canucks could use a Few Good Men

the kid knows how to score, he did the same for us in Utica. I don't think that is his issue with being a full time regular NHL'er.

I thought he was playing better at the time of his demotion ...I don't think he took it that well

Have to wonder with all the new faces in van this year if he wouldn't have been given more of an opportunity there

He's almost making stacks, no way a NHL team offers him anything close to what he makes over there when they can find other qualified coaches at a fraction of the cost.

Looks like another slow Goundhog day here.

Shink the useless AHL role player
Sedins need a star on the wing to pack them along
Etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etcetc etc etc

I'd rather talk about the draft, potential new head coaches and the upside of Canucks players prospects that are 25 and under.

It's not breaking news that the Sedins suck now as top 6 players, shouldn't really be discussed unless someone actually wants to argue that they're still good. Same with Shink vs Granlund, that looks like a clear W for Benning, even Flames fans will admit it.

I dont really agree with your points because outside of Bo, I havent seen anyone on the Canucks roster that could consistently handle the minutes that the twins play. Sutter isnt even that great of a player but looks good compared to the junk the rest of the team has. To me thats their benefit at the moment. Ideally they take 2nd line/2nd PP minutes until someone can show consistency to push them further down, but we are a few years away IMO.

Defensively, the Sedins are worse. They are among the oldest players in the league, they need support and unfortunately there isnt much. They looked better with Hansen/Granlund and worse with Chaput/Megna/Erikkson

The passing on the PP is over blown, the PP always runs up and down the right side (positioned by Edler/Stecher and the twins) and the net front and backside players try to finish. It happened with Erikkson, Sutter, Sven; this isnt new with Boeser

And the last part about CC, I agree it still exists but I think its changing. I have seen the twins throwing jabs and be in more scrums this year than the previous 10 seasons combined. And in the video clips the team churns out, Bo has emerged as the leader. He started last year trying to influence JV/McCann and will be the one the next generation looks to, I am not worried about any negative effects the twins will leave behind as they are less influential to players 10+ years younger them

Playing potential top 6 guys 8-10 minutes a night as 3rd and 4th liners isn't really preparing the team to have anyone ready to take over their minutes is it?

WD can't seem to resist playing AHL guys over their head and skill level.

For the past several years the power play goes from a left side zone entry, moves down the left side and presumably waits to see if there's a breakdown in coverage at the net, then moves behind the net and over to the right half-wall where Henrik is obliged to kill a minimum of 30 seconds before trying to make anything happen. They used to have Edler on the left side and would have him shoot from there after a D-D or a pass from Daniel in the high slot. Recently, in an attempt to confuse opponents, they've moved Edler over to Stecher's spot on the right side and are having him shoot from there.

Perhaps the single biggest reason the team will miss the playoffs is that they don't have a dangerous shot from the point. PK's know this and are able to blanket the rest of the zone forcing Henrik to feed long, low percentage passes to create scoring chances. Willie has failed to come up with any kind of configuration that works in spite of that deficiency. I'd at least have tried Boucher on the right side with Edler back on the left. Even if they gave up some short-handed goals having him there instead of Tanev it wouldn't be any worse than what they've been doing lately. Guess we're still waiting for him to 'earn it'.

A healthy Dorsett is key

He was healthy during his first year and the team made the playoffs and won playoff games.

2nd year he was playing through injuries and the team sucked

3rd year he's been out for most of the season and the team sucks even more
