Playing potential top 6 guys 8-10 minutes a night as 3rd and 4th liners isn't really preparing the team to have anyone ready to take over their minutes is it?
WD can't seem to resist playing AHL guys over their head and skill level.
For the past several years the power play goes from a left side zone entry, moves down the left side and presumably waits to see if there's a breakdown in coverage at the net, then moves behind the net and over to the right half-wall where Henrik is obliged to kill a minimum of 30 seconds before trying to make anything happen. They used to have Edler on the left side and would have him shoot from there after a D-D or a pass from Daniel in the high slot. Recently, in an attempt to confuse opponents, they've moved Edler over to Stecher's spot on the right side and are having him shoot from there.
Perhaps the single biggest reason the team will miss the playoffs is that they don't have a dangerous shot from the point. PK's know this and are able to blanket the rest of the zone forcing Henrik to feed long, low percentage passes to create scoring chances. Willie has failed to come up with any kind of configuration that works in spite of that deficiency. I'd at least have tried Boucher on the right side with Edler back on the left. Even if they gave up some short-handed goals having him there instead of Tanev it wouldn't be any worse than what they've been doing lately. Guess we're still waiting for him to 'earn it'. - YeOldTimer
You're right. Didn't work for the twins, Kessler, horvat, etc......

I'd rather talk about the draft, potential new head coaches and the upside of Canucks players prospects that are 25 and under.
It's not breaking news that the Sedins suck now as top 6 players, shouldn't really be discussed unless someone actually wants to argue that they're still good. Same with Shink vs Granlund, that looks like a clear W for Benning, even Flames fans will admit it. - Nucker101

Dustin Johnson out of the masters - VANTEL
I know I caused some friction on here last night with this same post but I don't care. I took Johnson in my Masters pool |

A healthy Dorsett is key
He was healthy during his first year and the team made the playoffs and won playoff games.
2nd year he was playing through injuries and the team sucked
3rd year he's been out for most of the season and the team sucks even more - Nucker101
For a guy who claims to be all about advanced stats, this is an odd horse to back as Dorsett is a garbage fire in terms of generating shots and possession.
He doesn't positively effect others numbers either, so I'm just going to say: No. He isn't the key to anything. Except maybe another top5 pick next year.... so in that case, bring on Dorsett!

I started the term County Club.
It is like the Code Red. You can chose to say it doesn't exist but would you be wrong.
You can't handle the truth.
Right now Canucks could use a Few Good Men - VANTEL
I can say it doesn't exist, and am very confident I'm right. I see players that are old and can't keep up, not guys that are kicking back and not working hard. There is a huge difference.
I can handle the truth, but I'm not a lemming and I don't take your bullpoop narratives as 'truth'. |

That he is a grabage fire from a stats perspective? I couldn't agree more, the evidence is overwhelmingly in favor of Dorsett being a AHL player |

I thought I've read here that Jarvis is responsible for the PP? And Lidster the defense and Maholtra was faceoff. Doesn't Willie just stand around, chew gum and twitch... |

Although he talks a lot about having a system, our resident coaching expert insists he does not coach with one. So I'd imagine that yes he pretty much just twitches and chews gum, maybe throws some encouraging words towards the players now and then. Apparently, this is a playoff team with the right coach and derek Dorsett back in the lineup |
