Gostisbehere - jcragcrumple
He's not going to put up those kinds of numbers he's a defense first |

Gostisbehere - jcragcrumple
They're not even remotely the same. Guhle's put up great numbers but he's billed as a defence first player at the pro level. Guhle today is probably lightyears ahead of Gostisbehere defensively. |

Hmmm, from memory, that was not the song you and most others were singing leading up to the draft last year.
In fact, if I remember right, it was along the lines of if GMTM is stupid enough to trade the 8th pick for a D man, he should be out.
Or was that for Fowler only? - kingcong39
Specifically on fowler since thats the rumour that came up. The faulk one would have been nice. |

Since when has Guhle been an offensive defenseman? |

The days of the defensive defenceman are slowly coming to an end. No more Bill Hajts or Jerry Korabs. They are all quick and offensive and not very big. Makes for a more exciting product on the ice but always liked having defensive guys on my team. - Matthews_Auston
Defensive defencemen in todays era fit more in the tanev, lindholm, braun mould. Guys who can read the play well in their own end, pretty good stick work, skate well and can chip in offensively or move the puck well out of their own end i.e transitioning defence into offence. Thats more where Guhle's skill set lies.
I doubt you'll ever see him play the powerplay unless there's an injury. |

He's a fast puck mover. How is he not like Ghost? |

borgen will be decent, will take some time
stephens took a big step forward, I expect him to sign this summer and play for rochester
nyberg and fitz, too soon to tell if worth a look in rochester down the road
and that's it - homiedclown
good call on stephens...really stepped it up this season...

fast puck mover doesn't equal gostisbehere. They play completely different styles. That and Guhle can actually play defence. |

Ok but saying "they're not even remotely the same" is extreme. Who is your example? |

It's extreme cuz they're on different ends of the spectrum. aside from being great skaters they dont have much else in common.
A heads-up defenseman who can really take a beating and dish it out as well. Built like a tank; grueling play doesn’t phase him. Calm, collected, and poised with the puck; great body and stick positioning without the puck. Reliable at both ends of the ice and can be trusted with a hefty amount of ice time. All-in-all, a defenseman who strives to be difficult to play against, consistently, with and without the puck.
This reads more like tanev and less like ghost. Bolded is what got ghost benched. |

Tyson Barrie is someone who he is compared to a lot on the "pro" scouting sites. And they all agree hockey IQ is the thing to hold him back because skating and moving the puck are top notch. |

Link? only one ive seen is an avs site which youd expect. A guy who reads the play as well as he supposedly does probably isnt going to be held back by hockey iq though. |

Fair enough. Someone else her said Ghost too, so i guess we just have different interpretations of what we've seen |

Is there a reason the Sabres wouldn't have brought Guhle to the big club rather Roch? |

Can we really trust what this organization has in mind for players?
I'm kidding. Kind of? |

If you guys are in a win now mode, I'm assuming that you guys are going all in on Shatty. Maybe trade a pick or 2 for a top defenseman. |

Hope with Eichel/RoR/Samson they can put their money where their mouths are. If it sucks so bad, then let's fix it. They need to do the heavy lifting and no matter what additions are made this summer, Sam's right we won't be some dominant team. It will take them being consistently better night in and night out. Good blog by MP as per usual.
If KO is in the NICU is it fair to assume it's a stroke or aneurysm at this point? My father just got out of the one at BGH and I thought that was all they really were dealing with were those or serious brain traumas that ultimately resulted in bleeds. I'm worried. |
