Sorry Bill, but woefully inconsistent goaltending for much of this season is one of the main reasons they are in the draft lottery. In fact, the only bigger reason is probably Giroux's ineffectiveness for much of the year.

Way too many players under performed this season though Giroux probably more than anyone. When a rookie Dman is the only player on the roster that greatly exceeded expectations, you aren't going to have a successful season.

Pining it on one guy is stupid, imo. G bears a lot of the responsibility but so does jake or name anybody else. Really , the only players to play to expectations were 9 & 17

He does. Postgame, we give a list of requested players. Claude generally is more forthcoming after practices in Voorhees than after games with the big-group setting.

I would say that woefully inconsistent team defense dragged the goaltending down with it more than the other way around for much of the season. That said, I do think there were also too many "not routine, but not unstoppable" ones that got through both goalies in Oct, Mason inJanuary and the Neuvirth portion of Feb ( plus his March start in Toronto).

I beleive that the poor team defense.is the single biggest reason this team has missed the playoffs. It's the one serious criticism I have of Hakstol. He never corrected the repeated coverage issues that plagued this team for much of the season.
