Sounds like Zukenov going to play in Russia as per JD Burke - VANTEL
Meh, Canucks don't have to sign him this way, and still hold his rights until 2019 without using a contract slot.
I wonder if Neill even gets signed, apparently this was a Benning quote back in February:
The thing we liked about Carl was his poise with the puck. Once he gets the puck on his stick, he sees the ice really well. He’ll hang onto the puck and make a good pass up to the forwards. We understand, with him, it’s about working on his mobility, his turning to get back there and to get pucks. We just felt that when he gets the puck on his stick, he’s smart, makes good plays with the puck and I think this year, he’s having a really good year.
He’s a good kid, a high character person. He’s worked hard off the ice. So, we are going to continue to monitor him and this year we have to decide this year if we are going to sign him or not.
And since then, they've signed some undrafted prospects.

can't if this is serious but if it is let's hear your rationale - CanuckDon
He's nowhere near the complete player that Patrick is, he's got issues with physical play and there's a lot of questions as to whether his scoring touch will translate to the next level. I've heard it said that while he's got the highest ceiling of the draft class, his floor is that of an AHL replacement level player and his likelihood of hitting his ceiling isn't that great. He's a boom/bust player, without a doubt the most talented depending on whether or not you factor in Middlestad's potential, but he's also someone I see burning brightly then flaming out.

You watch a lot of WHL hockey, right? Curious, who are your top 5 WHL'ers in this draft class?
One or both of Olsen or Neill will be probably released. Chatfield seems a much better choice and Canucks have interest in another UFA .
They have a few decisions to make in the next few weeks.
Billins is a UFA and I am hearing just might sign with Utica not the Canucks. Sautner and Cedarholm ?? RFAs .
Will Subban be traded and do they sign Pedan
I think McEneny will definitely be re-signed - VANTEL
I'd put prefer to see more AHL deals for guys who have basically no shot at the NHL. Can always sign them if they start progressing in the AHL. I'd trade Subban for a pick or prospect, dude is still scratched in the AHL at times and likely has no future here #feelings

I used to, had season's tickets to the Rockets, plus I talk to Colton Sissons of the Predators during the off-season. Not sure who I'd rank 2-5 right now in the WHL, other than Patrick being #1 no one really stands out this year. Next year there's several that could be top 5, even top 3 depending on how their year go.

really!? who are these players? Not trying to be a richard, just genuinely curious who you think has that kind of talent in the WHL. Looking like a strong draft already.

Fair enough...I strongly disagree and I think Patrick has more question marks. I'd be genuinely surprised if Patrick goes first

the guy is the concensus number one among scouts despite missing the entire year. There's got to be something to it. I'm very sure GM's will be doing medical evaluations/their homework. I'll be really happy to get either, or Vilardi for that matter.

IMO the "something to it" is as simple as it was dubbed "The Patrick Draft" when he missed last year's age cutoff despite being good enough to be picked Top 10. Since then though, he hasn't separated himself from the pack like an elite talent would - injuries aside. Got worse in primary ppg, didn't improve his play away from the puck which I've seen described as lazy/indifferent... All pretty concerning. He's viewed from a much different perspective as one of the oldest of the class vs how people saw him as last year's "just missed the cut" stud.
I've seen them all play multiple games, I've debated putting Popagaev above rasmussen. - neem55
Considering those two's respective struggles (EV strength scoring and consistency of effort/scoring in general), I'm surprised you'd rank them above Glass and Valimaki. Any reasoning as to why?
