We doing this again?
I'm all for digging ourselves in a hole (tanking), but moving those guys will all but ensure that we won't be getting out any-time soon. - Whiskey-Tango
Yes, this.

It would if you didn't already have those shelter guys. As much as I malign them in their old age, the Sedins still attract enough attention from opposing teams that they help in sheltering those further down. I think Eriksson and Sutter can be counted on for between 35 and 45 points each heading into next year even if they face harder competition. Add Bo and Baer as your main scoring threats and I think you guys should be fine to shelter your newcomers.
I'm also not advocating for trading any forwards, either. - MaximumBone
Agreed. I have been saying this for awhile. |

I've hated that contract since day one, but the reality of the matter is that he's among your best forwards right now. People may not like it, but part of going through a rebuild is tolerating less-than-ideal players and contracts to allow for the development of your youth. He can be your guys' Horcoff, but without the absurd 73 point season. - MaximumBone
I like Sutter . I agree that he would be good as a leader on the club . I am sure he would love to play elsewhere instead of taken the abuse while he carries this AHL roster.

A fourth line Sutter makes no sense. Waste of 4 mil - VANTEL
 yep.
I was looking at that and your earlier post regarding the love for Sutter.
I'm expecting some moves to be made.
Wondering if Rodin will be offered a contract? but either way, we have a bunch of forwards that play with very little edge and some are not very big.
I'm wondering what JV will look like next season? If he isn't ready, I'm hoping we bring in a big winger who plays a gritty game. Losing is bad enough, but getting pushed around in the process is not entertainment for the fan base. |

Free $! If any team can pull off an improbable victory to (frank) themselves out of a top 2 pick, it's the Canucks. |

I meant in order for the Canucks to get a 2nd for Luca Sbisa. Hilarious part is that Tanev made him look decent, like he does with every dman. |

I think next year
Sedin Sedin Goldobin
Granlund Bo Boeser
Sven Sutter LE
Gaunce UFA ?? - VANTEL
Fair, but I'm worried about Goldy on any manner of "top" line (even if it isn't really). I don't watch every Canucks game like you guys, but being stuck in a dorm full of Canucks fans I've been subjected to enough to give this a try.
Baer- Horvat- Boeser (top line EV and PP)
Sedin- Sedin- Granlund (Granny had some success here, iirc)
Eriksson- Sutter- Goldobin (let Goldy be the distributor)
Gaunce- (HORVAT)- Dorsett
Double-shift Horvat at EV and play Megna on the top PP unit, obviously |

Somehow I think Vegas will want to keep that pick, they're gonna suck so why trade away a top 5 pick? |

You're reaching there young fellow. He looked good with Tanev injured also and was out of the line up |

I'm not doubting the fact that he could be fired; more doubting the fact that anyone else would take him on as GM. |

If we somehow moved one of or both Edler and Tanev, I'd guess we would be signing a ufa dman for a year or two or more.
I'm torn a bit on value of these two, I guess much of it depends on the return and if there are really any attractive options/trading partners.
http://theprovince.com/sp...-and-the-best-of-the-week - hillbillydeluxe
You are revealing a good angle here. Trading partner would be a contender. If there is value in the UFA's for Nucks to sign to fill in for Edler and Tanev; then, wouldn't the teams wanting D do that? Why lose assets for them. Plus save cap space as Edler and Tanev don't come cheap either.
Not to mention, why would a decent or capable UFA vet, to take over for Edler and or Tanev, sign here? The Canucks won't give out a big contract. They want to develop their young D to take over. The team is in rebuild mode.
Thus, if Canucks are able to move a D then that's only because their spot will be filled from within. If Sbisa is taken by Vegas then that scenario is even less likely. |
