They must have someone lined up because firing WD at this point in the rebuild (when they just finally (frank)ing committed to one) doesn't make much sense to me.

It reeks of finger pointing which I see as a bad sign.

Heard too many stories about how hated he was that I dont think we need to risk him pushing the wrong buttons with some of our top prospects.

My brother is down in the states for school and was chatting to an NCAA kid who was at Blues prospect camp a few years back who told him that was wasnt going to sign there because they heard of a physical altercation between Hitch and Backes. I dont want a notoriously hated guy involved with the organization at all, regardless of how soft Vancouver is

- WhiteLie

Hitch is a goof. With young guys I want a coach to actually coach and mentor guys. Obviously someone who has no problem calling them out to, so guys like JV get dealt with for his BS.

So any coach with a proven track record of developing young kids. Gallant had a bunch in florida, crow had mathews in europe, so if there are any other like this.. Im not really interested in Green but not really against him either. Just think a proven coach would be best for a really young team unless they are super confiddent in another coaches ability.

Did Desjardins deserve to be fired? I don't have a good feel for whether or not he gets any blame?

Your concerns seem reasonable. I am on the fence in regards to Hitch. Perhaps he will calm down a bit at the end of his career. Backes is also a whiney little Botchford so I don't care about that. Hitch could certainly teach the young kids a few things.

He has his warts but not as many as the lineup he was given.

With the coach being fired who is JB and crew going to point the finger at now?
- bloatedmosquito

This is just it...now the focus shifts to them. Hope JB has a few more rabbits up the ass in the next few seasons.

No it really doesn't. A poor showing in the playoffs followed by two terrible seasons where everyone in the City has been questioning the coaches decision making. A coaching change was necessary.

Exactly... Sadly finger pointing is what I've come to expect from this ownership & whatever "management" marionette they have in place at the time.

I wouldn't expect anything more than 1 more. Ownership doesn't seem very patient.

Well then I guess we should all expect SC final next year, WD was apparently all that was holding this young group of superstars back.

It will be interesting to see who next season's scapegoat will be.

Had some deployment issues and such but ultimately this roster was a total dud especially after the injuries started hitting in Jan. Sedins are running the show...need a coach who will upset the country-club.

Apparently it happened because Backes was standing up for a teammate that Hitch was being an ass to.

I would just really prefer to avoid having the players band together against or be divided because of a coach. Nor would I want any excuse to have players avoid coming to VAN, whether they are free agents, college kids, or vets; this team no longer has the bargaining power to get "hometown discounts" and will need to overpay (in money or opportunity) to attract players

Thought the same, it really doesn't make a ton of sense. The only thing that comes to my mind is maybe they want to get Green up and acclimated as quickly as possible

Could very well be which is ok. Give Marky a shot I say. No point in padding Miller's bank account to be another 70 pt team.

Nope, just a move to appease season ticket holders. Only about appeasing the fans who want a fall guy
