its fair to say that they didnt have one 60 minute game all year, right? so they were uneven at best, and it sure looked like they quit on their coach at worst. so how can you talk about bringing back your 38 year old captain AND keep the coach? somebody has to be accountable here.

I would assume it has to do with not letting a 20 year old who has yet to win anything at this level steer the ship. I'm not saying it's right, but it's the only somewhat logical mindset I can think of.

I'm not sure anyone will be held accountable. Murray said he's open to resigning Gionta and Bylsma looks like he's staying on. Looks like Murray is going to have to make personnel changes. Reshuffling the bottom six isn't going to help much

I wonder if Bylsma staying is also a commentary on Murray. if they fired Byslma but not TMGM then they would essentially be married to Murray for another 2-3 years with a new coach. Their success/failure next year is probably shared.

He's going to tell himself that a full season of Eichel has them in the playoffs.

To the contrary I think it would help a lot. They got absolutely nothing from the fourth line in terms of scoring or help on the PK. I think Rodriguez provides some hope for next year.

I don't think Eichel needs to be the captain, but McDavid was in the same boat and became the captain.

They did alright.

I am fully okay with them bringing Gionta back and keeping the C on him.
