I've said it before, getting an AHL coach who's never been an NHL coach to replace exactly that, is bad optics and makes little sense to me. - Marwood
What veteran coach with any kind of a resume is going to come into this tire fire? |

Agreed. That being said, the next coach is getting hired to be fired. I think its extremely unlikely we get a coach that sees the first game beyond the Sedin era, so if Green has been good with the kids, then I wouldn't be entirely opposed to him continuing the plan for the next couple seasons |

Not exactly the same situation....when said AHL coach has played almost a thousand games in the NHL playing and learning get from some excellent nhl coaches . |

Would have been totally worth it. - Lindenis#1
Gillis would still be handing them out. |

I think what ever coach we hire is here only for 2 years.
I would like to see a hard ass.
I think Uncle Daryll would make young Brandon play much harder and it would be fun to watch Edlers ass pasted to the bench.
No coach is going to produce a different result , we are going to bottom 3 |

Like coming to America on the Titantic in 1912 and surviving only to go back to England on the Lusitania in 1915. |

And if they won in 2011 or were as successful as Lombardi in LA I wouldn't care one bit. |

Elliot Friedman just was saying on their playoff preview show he can't see where Green isn't the coach. Thinks Green will not be coaching Utica next season whether he gets the Canucks job or not - WhiteLie
Button just said he is a huge Green fan and thinks he is the coach as well |

Makes perfect sense. Get a guy who would sewer the value of players you might be able to turn into assets to improve the team's future.
That's some Vrbata on the 4th line going into the trade deadline level thinking. |

All coaches need to start somewhere. Getting a coach that has a mandate to work with youth from the start is the way to go. No pressure on wins or losses |

He's not my top choice, but I'm not against hiring him.
He's not WD 2.0
But this gig is really a suicide quest for any coach. Good luck surviving the rebuild. |

I think Travis Green is better off to serve as an associate coach for a couple of years. Get fine tuned by an experienced coach like Sutter or? |

I'm cool with green. I think it's important for everyone to be on the same page going forward and I think Green would be more of a team player than Willie |

When Green gets the same result as WD next year people will want Benning gone. Very bold move bringing in another rookie coach |

I think they'd both go when the time is right. Could easily see something like Bieksa/Burrows got for Edler. "We're not gonna re-sign you." and then he opens up his NTC to whichever team gives him an extension
I think Sutter could be moved and his NTC is one of those modified-not-very-restricted ones I think. |

He runs a better system than WD + you'll have the honeymoon effect so in theory it could buy Benning 2 more years here. |
